Its realy not that hard to remove radiators and you don't need a lot of tool to do it. The first thing you need to do is find the small drain on the bottom of the radiator called the petcock usely has a thumb screw or plastic nut. And also has a nipple to attach a small hose to . Open the petcock after you attach the hose and let it drain into a container you olny need to drain a qt and a half out or so .Then you need to remove the fan shroud witch is held together with small bolts 5/16 or 8 mm. If you have remote fans disconect the electrical conecters and they will come out with the shroud . Then disconnect the radiator hoses top first then the bottom you will loose more antifreeze so put your container under the bottom hose and do it slowly but most ou the antifreeze is in the engine block so elevate the hoses wedge them behind what ever you is easyest in the engine compartment . If you have an automatic transmission you will need to remove the cooling lines that go into the radiator . You will see two plastic clips 1 red and 1 blue on most chevys . They will expand and pull of by hand . Under those will be small clips called E clips that can be easly removed with a small screw driver these hold the Orings tight that seal the oil lines .Once again eleavte these lines so they don't leak oil on the ground . Then lift the radiator out and tip it to drain the rest of the antifreeze and oil into a container and your done .you may want to get new Eclips and O rings for the oil line seals if you see any damage to them but if they look OK then you can reuse them . Wonce you see it and have done it you'll see its not hard to do good luck

2004 chevy impala radiator removal 3.4 engine

There is a very detailed write up here:
http://www.impalaforums.com/diy-do-it-yourself-how-to/239662-radiator-replacement-visual-walkthrough.html
The radiator is the same for both the 3.4 and 3.8 engines as well as various other GM vehicles around the same year. The cheapest radiator I was able to find was from Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000IYPQXO?psc=1&redirect=true&ref%5F=oh%5Faui%5Fdetailpage%5Fo00%5Fs00&pldnSite=1
It's a fairly simple process, my 17 yr old son was able to do it all by himself. Don't forget to buy new radiator coolant and some Transmission fluid as you will lose about a quart worth when you pull the old transmission out.

My 2004 Impala keeps overheating. it says coolent temp hot. i dont smell anything thing nor do i see any type of smoke or steam. i had thermastat replace and ignition wire replace but no luck. the car...

There are other things to be checked, such as the radiator fan and the water pump. You would need to find out if the fan is coming on at 220 degrees and if the pump is pulling coolant thru the radiator.

Cannot locate cold fill line on impala 2008 coolant overflow tank

Just fill it up 1/4 full with coolent. Coolent expands when hot, which will fill the tank up more, so don't over fill too much. If you think your low on coolent, let the engine cool down, and open the radiator cap and fill it full from there. Filling the tank, will not add ANY coolent to the radiator untill it warms up (expands) and cools down (contracts pulling in coolent from the tank only at this moment.)

Passanger floorboard is wet

Is it water or is it radiator fluid. Radiator fluid will have a sweet smell. If it is water it is probably because the windshield isn't sealed properly and is leaking. If it is radiator fluid then you have a cracked heater core. You can see the result of this by turning on the front defrost and instead of clearing the windsheild it will fog it up. Try pulling the carpet back on the passenger side and put a light dusting of flour on the floor. This should help you locate where the leak is coming from.

2001 impala, I need to know were the drain plug for the radiator is and what it looks like?

I have 2 words for you: GOOD LUCK! Yes, there is a radiator drain plug. General Motors, in all of their infinite wisdom made the thing absolutely impossible to get to, but if you look hard enough from under the vehicle after removing all of the plastic splash-panels, you will find it on the lower driver's side of the radiator. It is also made of plastic and will probably break when you try to loosen it.
If you are trying to do a drain and refill for maintenance purposes, it is much easier to just pull the lower radiator hose off.

How do i take headlamps off

To remove the headlamp assembly...
There are two plastic tabs on top of each of the headlamp assemblies.
Pull them straight up about 3/4".
The headlamps can be remove by pulling them staright forward.
Now you can access the headlamp bulbs and turn signals.
zeevert_41.jpg Don't be confused by the radiator... I was working on a different project.
This is my 2002 Impala LS. Headlamp should be the same for 2000-2005? Impalas.
