Question about 2004 Ford F150

Alarm goes off truck won't start.

Tried to start my truck (2004, F150 Lariat, 5.4 Ltr) the alarm started going off and it will not start. Diconnected the battery and then reconnected. Alarm started going off when I reconnected the battery. ignition was off during this time. There is a small light at bottom of front console on drivers side that has started flashing.

Any help would be appreciated.

I more or less have the same type of problem. I have a 04 F150 FX4, I disconnected the battery to clean the posts and when I reconnected the positive cable the vehicle alarm would sound for about three minutes, stop for a few seconds and start again, when I disconnected the postive cable the horn would stop and the process would continue. The truck would not start at any time. I started the truck with the booster eliminator keeping the cables fully connected. I'ts been three days since this incident and have had no problems since. ( I don't know if this would have any bearing, but last week I required a battery boost from another vehicle and when I tryed to start my vehicle with the dead battery the same situation with the horn sounding occurred, is there a possibility that the dead battery may have effected the vehicle alarm system. I do have the in-dash alarm cancellation button, this had no effect.Help please. Suggestions appreciated.

Sounds like you have an aftermarket alarm not factory most of these alarma are equipped with a starter interupt that will not vehicle start. when connecting the battery ist is normal for the alarm to sound some alarms may not sound if ignition is on while connecting battery, however this is not reccomended. after connecting battery and alarm sounds you should be able to turn it off with trasmitter, if you do not have one then you will need to put key in ignition turn it on and look under the dash for a valet switch or togle switch this may override the alarm and let car start if you cannot locate this you can alway locate the alarm box under dash and unplug it as last resort most alarm defaults will let the car start when this is done. hope this helps

I had my battery change and now when I turn off the vehicle and lock it a few minutes latter the horn and the light start going off. WhaT can I do I have a 2004 ford f150 extended cab

It sounds like you have a factory security system. Even if it is aftermarket they sometime t need to be reset. First find out if the security system has a balance system. This will set off a horn or alarm if the vehicle is rocked or moved. If not, try resetting by unlocking all the doors with remote. Disconnect the negative cable and leave it off for a few minutes. Then reconnect it and start the engine, turn it off and lock the doors and wait. Beyond this I have nothing further

This sounds like a classic bad connection either at the battery or engine ground. Check and recheck all your connections and be sure they are clean and tight.

Check all wires and switch used to wire the push button ignition. Make sure none have melted due to the stress from hard starting in cold weather. If a thick enough guage of wire was not used it will get hot and could melt.

Sporadic issue with not starting.

Your problem could be your starter relay. It could be internally damaged and causing the intermittent problem. Look in the junction box under the hood for it. If you have your factory manual,it will tell you the exact position of the relay.

Truck will not turn over

I have found that the main cable to the starter is either broken or corroded. Replace the end and it should be fine.
