My 1.5td Accent has begun cutting out when accellerating, but after a couple of munutes sitting, the engine starts again. Mymechanic has changed the fuel pump, and fuel pressure sensor, and the car has had a crank-shaft position sensor recently.

Sounds like your mechanic is on the right track as it sounds like a fuel problem.

A little late for reply but if that light is blinking while running stop driving, this indicates a major problem with engine, you won't accelerate because PCM is in default mode.

Engine starts cutting out when accellerating to get up to speed or to pass someone.

Try several things...

Fuel injector cleaner
New fuel filters
Check for vacuum leaks
New spark plugs and wires

When i press the accellerator the idle fluctuates up and down

Couple of items can cause this:
manual shift valve, transmission range sensor, idle air control or fuel pressure regulator. Only once I had to replace the ECU.
I would scan for codes first and see what you get.

First check the cable from the accellerator is moving the throttle linkage on the engine. If your cable has broken you will not get any response from the pedal.

Engine cuts out

Maybe when you went into the ditch you partially pinched your fuel line so now your not getting enough fuel to the motor?Crawl up under your car and see if you can see any damage to the fuel lines, or anything else...filter etc.
