There could be several reasons why the water temperature is going up when climbing hills after changing the gearbox in a 4JX1 automatic vehicle. One possible reason is that the new gearbox may be causing the engine to work harder to climb hills, which generates more heat and causes the temperature to rise. Another possibility is that the new gearbox is not properly lubricated, causing excess friction and heat to be generated. It's also possible that there is a problem with the cooling system, such as a clogged radiator or malfunctioning thermostat. A qualified mechanic should inspect the vehicle to determine the cause of the issue.
Hi sad to say this gearbox requires valve body repairs ,replacement of dextron 3 ATF fluid and filter.clutches and friction plates should be checked replaced if worn.Torque converter should be checked out.If gearbox has electronic functions a diagnostic report should be done before stripping.A conventional auto gearbox pre 2000 model could be fitted with a external modulator switch causing present fault ,over powering the above mentioned faults.
Its either the gear box or the engine. If engine has no enough power for take off, the gear box won't change because an auto gearbox uses the engine speed to think of the next gear.
This message mean more things You must explane what happened with you exactly, What us the type of your gearbox, manual or Opticruise What is the gears you can mount it,and more things
Check engine lights report faults in engine AND gear box(auto). If you have changed from an auto to manual gear box then the sensor system for the gearbox is recording a massive fault with the gearbox that you have to check out. Talk wit an accredited auto electrician as to how to neutralise the system so that the light only checks out the engine.
at the bottom of the selector rod in the gearbox is a snall shaped cam which operates two switches one for foreward and one for reverse its possible that this has broke or its a computer malfunction also the front clutch has failed or low on oil maybe even the drive plate for the torque converter has broken in the middle but this would be noisy i would expect but not always
buy a small economical europeon model with manual transmission,4 lt gas guzzler its a green piece nightmare machine.gearbox problem ??well its sounds like a computer control malfunction which if it is then its dealer only iam afraid to diagnose problem more than anything else as fitting wrong part and its still the same is costly.what can cause this multitude from a dodgy connection in a connector to a slide control on side of box .sorry i cant be more specific without car in front of me
