Question about Honda Civic

1 Answer

My 1998 honda civic 1.4 seems to have an imobiliser problem as it cranks over and over without firing, there is a green key symbol on the dash and the ignition sparks when this light is on but when it goes out (about 10-15 seconds) ignition stops working can you help? Many thanks.

Dealer only sorry ,try either the spare key ,,often works or try locking and unlocking the door three times slowly then jumping in and try to start within 15secs .if none of this works then take car to dealer and be prepared to lay the golden egg as here in spain the average price for this is around 180€ upwards.no other solution other than disable the factory immobiliser and where do you find this information???if you do please let me know.this sort of problem is often associated with a flat battery where the car is left standing for a long period.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Honda civic car will not start.immobiliser cannot be reset with key hondadealer has said the whole ignition system has to be replaced

I don't Believe that remote start can only be re-programed by the dealer as it is anti theft prevention device get a 2nd opinion or call the dealership ..unless something has become truly wrong with your ignition system but a remote device works without a key ...you could try to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery itself to see if it will reset itself foe a few minutes then reattach and secure it but ,,,remote works without the key yntil you wish to drive it at which point you need to insert the key to forwards position to drive it
