1995 Land Rover Defender 130 300TDi settings

This vehicle is a manual and we are going to adjust the rear diff to take out the freeplay (very clunky).
We need to know the torque setting etc. to ensure the job is done correctly. Please, please help!!

    Thanks for the info Landyman.

I have also received a full copy of the workshop manual and my friend is an engineer, so we will at least look at all the the possible scenarios.

Your advice is greatly appreciated and helps to narrow the search so I can get back on the road, and dirt, again.

Check your side shafts first, wear on the drive splines are the most likely cause.Adjustingthe rear diff is quite a tricky procedure and you need to use a dial gauge to measure freeplay on the crownwheel.See what your nearest transmission specialist can do for you , he may give you a warranty on his repair and this will be cheaper in the long run.

HOW DO I REMOVE REAR DIFF FROM MY 1994 LAND ROVER DISCO

Remove the halfshafts, the rear propshaft, the ring of bolts holding the diff in the axle and pull it out, drain the oil first.
But i must say, if you need help on how to remove the diff, then you obviously have no mechanical knowledge,, so what are you doing pulling out the diff. do you know how to repair and set up diffs ?

Fitting rear view mirror

Hi you can buy little double sided pads to do this but make sure the cab is warm when you fit it.

Alternatively superglue but you will need to hold it in position and tape it up to dry, Pads are the better option. let me know if you need a stockist and I will post you the link.

Hi, I'm interested in buying a 1985 Land Rover Defender V8.Owner says the clutch is slipping when engine is warm. What is required to fix this and what would approximate cost be?

aftermarket clutch kits for this vehicle run $500-750 and about the same for labor to remove transmission and service clutch and plate...allow $1500 for this repair.Dealer price for parts and labor could double this estimate...good luck

Too complicated to advise, to set up a diff you need to be experienced. Either get a skilled engineer to set the diff correctly, or change the full axle from another vehicle. If you dont set the diff correctly, it will whine and prematurely fail.
