Car is hesitating at time as if timing was out of whack

When sitting at a light the car idles occasionally as if out of time as if missing. Additionally, when I'm going at higher speeds the car hesitates and struggles especially if going up an incline. Could it be a sensor ?

Try cleaning out the idle control Valve. also called an IAC. Using brake cleaner remove the duct from the air cleaner and spray directly at the valve. It sits near the opening . It is a small component with 2 small hoses. If you can, remove it and spray right into the 2 holes on the underside. If that is not the problem it could be the EGR valve.Sludge bulidup in the IAC is a common problem.

You set the gap at 20 sould be 16,a hesitation or occasional miss is not from the points or condensor, its from the craburator, its a power valve or your float getting the hesitation can be the secondary not feeding at wide open throttle, the carburator is faulty, and plus todays fuel is not meant for carburators

Do you have a check engine light on and what are the codes if any? Your symptoms describe 4 things I have seen go bad on this car. A bad cat converter can cause this. A bas fuel pressure regulator can cause this. Pull vacum hose of fuel pressure regulator and inspect for liquid fuel. If there is any than the part needs replaced. A bad mas air flow sensor can also create this problem. A weak fuel pump can also cause this.

1999 Alero stalling and trac off light coming on

does the rpm motor kick down? you may need to check your vacuum hoses, and also you may want to check your exaust, sounds wierd but that can cause the car to stall at times.as for the traction light, your hitting the brakes to hard. try slowing down a little slower while stopping, and keep distance for saftey.. if you can take it a little slower at lights and turns, without braking hard and it stops stalling.

I have a 93 escort and it lost power every once in a while and ran rough at other times. The solution was to replace the oxygen sensor. It has run excellant for the last 45,000 miles now.
