also tried different nozzle positions: 1/2 in, 3/4 in, angled to right and left. regardless of the position , it still stops while pumping gas. could it be a sensor? or maybe the fuel filler valve not opening all the way? is the fuel filler itself defective? i don't know. all i know is i had no problem filling gas until 6 months ago.

I have the same problem. I have tried pumping it slow, half in, 3/4 in, 1/4 in,angled, angled up, pushing it down, to the right and to the left, not using the pump lock... and nothing works! This is driving me insane!

I was recently told it is an issue with the floater inside the tank or else a problem with the neck of the tank. I was also told this could be about a $400 fix.

Why does my 2003 Yukon XL turn over but won't start?

Does fuel pump run ? Remove fuel cap. Have someone crank it for you,you should hear fuel pump running. If not bang on bottom of tank while cranking. If it starts fuel pump will need replacing , if not check for power to pump, if it has power, replace pump. If no power, check relay for operation

2003 yukon xl turns over fine wont start.

Someone will need to figure out if you are lacking fuel to the injectors or spark to the plugs to proceed.
You say the pump is fine, have you checked the fuel pressure, and do you know if the injectors are getting voltage and ground pulse from the computer ?

Ran fine last night drove round trip prob 75 miles no prob parked tried to start in morming keepd cranking wont start less than 1/4 tqnk off gas banged on gas tank while cranking still wont start any...

One way to check the fuel pump is to turn the ignition to on and listen for the pump to run. It should run for a few seconds. It may be a couple of seconds after you turn the ignition to on before it runs. Normally you can do this repeated times.

If you don't hear the pump run that is most probably the problem.

1997 dodge ram 5.9 fuel pump troubleshooting truck ran fine was low on fuel stopped it went to restart n wouldnt fire poured gas in throttlebody n truck fired off n then died

If the pump has run down on fuel and the fuel pump ran DRY , then it is possible that there is air in the system and the flow can be restrictive. The fuel lines have to be opened out to allow the flow till the air moves out of the system.
The fault will clear one the pump clears this fault .Now you can connecct back and start .

Will not start wnen less than one fourth tank of fuel. 2003 Yukon

Do you park on a hill? Try pumping the gas pedal a few times before you start it. Check that there is no fuel being dropped, check under the car for rusted fuel lines and any drips.

Hope this helps and vote for me please Thanks.

While driving engine shuts off

I had the same issue with another GM and never got it resolved except by replacing the battery.
Finally put it one that keeps good voltage while park or running.
Wall mart sells a $20 alternator and battery checking device you plug into a power socket.
Its digital read out is better for my eyes than the dash board one and has idiot color codes red yellow and green,

Some batteries seem to get shorted cells and that lower voltage can lead to engine shutdown even while driving. You would think a good alternator would keep the engine running but these new low rpm designs with heavy load...

This is all experience and I do not claim to be a GM tech.
