The Solution below is 100$ ****, that person does not own or had ever owned an x300. First of all your car is very old, and what happens to cars that have around 100,000 miles? Most *** cars need a new coil packs, because they are too close to the engine and they energy makes heat and heat destroys a coil pack. In your Jaguar the Designers put them in the hottest part of your car. The problom is caused on warm days over 85F when running for a while or in traffic. This problem will let you drive the car but not drive it well. I bet you have service lights on too, with missfires but all random. Most people only change 1 or 2 separate coil packs in the motor, but really all should be changed but they are 54$ online per each so in order to get rid of the problem, to do it the cheap way you need to rip all the flaps from the radiator. this blows much much more air into the engine bay., second take that useless plastic cover off the top of the motor so the coil packs can breathe, you could insulate them with something or just leave them so they get air. Also if you live in a hot climate you could just take the thermostat out only if you live in FL as your car will still be operating at just below normal temp. In colder climates dont do it the car dosent warm up as it is very well. But thats your problem heat in the coil packs. No burt vales, i understand what the person below is getting at but this is different i only know because i have had 3 of them. remeber 15 w 50 is what goes into it synthetic wouldnt kill you to change that pcv valve

IM 100% possative nothing to do with painful expensive valves, all mine always did this in the hottest days or on really long trips of non stop driving the heat just moves thru the motor on the hot days or durring long operation and messes up the coil packs,

Sounds like valves not seating, this model car suffers from burnt valves as the engine was designed pre war when they had high octane fuel and lots of lead in the fuel ,lead lubricates the exhaust valves as well as causing all other health problems.but iam sure that these engines never got a stelite coated valves and valve seats when in 92 we all went unleaded.i have reground no end of heads since word got around that i could do a jag.i can get the head off in about an hour ,they are quite simple really just dammed heavy and the head gaskets expensive about 100€ another 3/4 hours to grind valves in then refit.valve timing marks on rear of cams by the way .

My 95 xj6 would not start in cold weather. Towed to jaguar dealer and they diagnosed it as a battery problem. Changed battery started for three weeks. It is cold again motor turns over but does not start.

your suppression module is dead and need to changed. It blocks the alternator from charging the battery, so basically you are running on battery for more
