Question about 1995 Jaguar XJ6
I have 1995 jaguar xj6 starts and runs fine until it get to about 2,500 rpm then misses and pops 1,600 when hot what could it be this all started after it sat for about 2 weeks
Sounds like valves not seating, this model car suffers from burnt valves as the engine was designed pre war when they had high octane fuel and lots of lead in the fuel ,lead lubricates the exhaust valves as well as causing all other health problems.but iam sure that these engines never got a stelite coated valves and valve seats when in 92 we all went unleaded.i have reground no end of heads since word got around that i could do a jag.i can get the head off in about an hour ,they are quite simple really just dammed heavy and the head gaskets expensive about 100€ another 3/4 hours to grind valves in then refit.valve timing marks on rear of cams by the way .
