Oil dripping off egr valve

I'm a tech at Rankl & Ries Motorcars. I have a 2001 xl-7 with a 2.7, there is oil dripping off of the egr valve running down on to the exhaust causing smoke, (cust complaint). I have removed the intake & valve cover to verify baffles were in place & not loose, checked for restriction in breather hose. everything was clean. I pinched off pcv hose & breather hose & test drove, still oil dripping out of egr valve from oil in intake, I was wondering if valve seals or guides could be the problem since there is no smoke out of tailpipe, which is a telltail sign of bad guides in an american vehicle

I have a 2001 suzuki xl7, I replaced egr unit and installed new pvc valve. Still shows error code P0400. Why won't it pass deq?

You may have a EGR valve plugged exhaust gas passage, so when it is opened the systems computer doesn't see any change in the O2 signal voltage. To check this manually pull open the EGR valve, the engine should run very rough and will stall out most times, if you open the valve up and see no change in the engine idle the passages are plugged with carbon and must be cleaned. As long as you have this EGR problem the car will not pass smog.

Hi,
That's a blowback/EGR hose. Excess gas from the compression in the piston goes back in the crankcase and passes into the valve train/cover and the gas by means of EGR valve was sucked again by the intake manifold.

That is why there is oil in the hose, excessive oil means a blocked EGR valve. Either clean the or replace it with new one.

Hope that explains everything.
Thanks for asking FixYa!

My car is a suzuki xl-7 2002. it's has a problem with an egr valve. How you can help,me please, and where is the egr valve is located.?

The EGR valve will be mounted on the intake manifold, and may have either wiring or a vacuum hose attached to it. Type 'EGR valve' into Google images, and you will see what it looks like.

Change erg valve and oil senser and location of each

before we repalce these can I ask why.

Generally a low flow egr code is not the valve. Its either the DPFE sensor or the passage in the intake for the egr valve is clogged.

If the car struggles at idle and the oil light comes on then the light works and the sensor works.

A stuck open EGR valve could cause a struggling idle so in this case the EGR valve would need to be replaced but not the oil sender.

P0401 egr flow all senors, ports working properly at shop with ase

check ur egr valve -there are 3 parts to the egr --the dpfe[differential pressure feedback egr ]sensor//egr valve//actuator solenoid--++biggest problem with the egr valve is that it gets carboned up and the valve is stuck remove and clean the valve and tube with a carb cleaner and check valve for movement if faulty replace also check vacuum line and vacuum to egr unit

My 2001 Dodge dakota bogs down and backfires the tach shows the engine reving but the truck doesn't speed up at first code said left bank to rich

if the code said it was running rich then your fuel injectors could be dripping fuel into one of the cylinders. try cleaning your injectors. if that dont work then it could be one of your EGR valves, check for that. and check for fuel filter. One of those has to be the problem. most likely its one of your EGR valves. check it out!
