Van was running real good and starting real good. Then it wouldn't start but after it set for several hours it would start and run real good. For several weeks it would run good. Now, again it wouldn't start. Got it to start again. Now it won't start at all. Been sitting now for 2 days.

I had the same problem with my van. Turns out it was the fuel filter. costs about 10-13 $ and can be changed in about 10 min.

Check the fuel cut off switch. i think it is in the back cover (passenger side with the jack.check that you have power to the pump. maybe even take a live feed direct to the pump. if this works you have a break in the lead or a fuse has blown

If you knock gently under the fuel tank for about 5-6 times and then start your vehicle. If it starts, then 100% it is time to replace the fuel pump. Good luck.

2000 chevy express 3500 van with a 350. Hard time starting. When it starts runs beautiful! Will only start after several taps of the key as if you where setting timing. Not with key fully turning over....

sounds like the check valve in fuel pump is allowing fuel to drain back out of lines. this would require ystem to prime up each time it is cranked. check fuel pressure it should hold with key off if it leaks down this is problem and pump will need to be replaced

2002 chevy express fuel pump/crank sensor?? not starting

i had a similar problem and called the dealer during lunch hour. i talked to a mechanic, the distributor in these vehicles is plastic, and is prone to cracking.not just the cap but the body also, I have been taking the cap off and wiping the moisture out of the cap. or replacing the cap but the problem is I need a new distributor. just a cheep way to get rolling is cleaning the inside of the cap, especially when it is very damp or the outside temp changes alot during the day. good luck.

1999 chevy astro van 4.3 will not start in morning, after cranking for several minutes it will finally turn over and run fine the rest of the day could it be a bad fuel pump or oil pump

I have the same problem, I replaced the fuel pump. Did NOT solve it. i was told that it is a computer problem. The computer is not sending electric to the fuel pump, by cranking it several times the oil pressure builds up and will over ride the computer and send power to the fuel pump. This is a common problem on these asrto vans.

Have to hit starter 2-3 times, sometimes more before car starts - have replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, throttle control unit and idle sensor - has not cured problem - however, when unit warmed up, it...

When you say you have to "hit" the starter, do you mean literally? If so, then you need to replace your starter. I've had several cars where the starter went out and if you bang on the starter it will usually start up. That wouldn't have anything to do with your fuel pump or idle sensor. Replace your starter.

Chevy van won't start

Check for spark and fuel. If you have spark make sure your fuel pump is working. If pump is working and no spark, check for spark off coil wire. If nothing there either, remove ignition module and take it to Napa and have them check it. Have them test it several times.
