Question about 2000 Ford Focus

1 Answer

No turnover at all

Ford Focus 2001:
My car won't turn over at all. I was driving and all of a sudden the car felt like it was hit from behind, I assume this is when it stalls. The car turned off but dashboard lights came on. I could no longer accelerate but kept moving until the momentum I had stopped. When I put the key into the ignition, I can turn the key once, but not a second time (as if to rev the engine). There's no turn over. We tried jumping the car, didn't work. Found that we had a severly burnt out fuse (the one for the engine) but aren't sure how it happened. We've ruled out that its not a battery problem.
Any ideas?

Thats going to be the rack & pinion steering gear or the power steering pump. Have them checked soon! It can jam while driving and can ruin your day!

If it's happening going uphill, or when you hit the gas to accelerate hard, it's very likely a clogged fuel filter. Change that out and you should be OK.

Car feels sluggish driving then sudden loss

Has the check engine light gone on? The focus is going into 'limp' mode to avoid damage to components, due to some problem. Even if there is no check engine light illuminated, bring it to a parts store for a free check of any codes stored in the cars computer. You need this info to figure out what is wrong. If after having the parts store scan for codes you still have questions, re-post them with the codes here.
