My Hyundai Lantra Sportswagon died last week during a move. Oil must've shot out from the back of the motor but cant find any trace of where it came from. Car died immediately after that had happened. Started stripping off the tappet cover an saw nothing but dried up oil. Cranked the engine over and yes there is compression and all moving parts in the head works fine. Tried taking the spark leads off and had no luck with that. Plastic bits have melted the leads in an around the plugs 1,2 and 3 but not 4. Where could the problem be? Oil or spark? Maybe oil pump? Car did not smoke before, an had regular service. Also just had brand new leads and plugs fitted less than 2000kms ago.

SOURCE: torque wrench settings for 97 hyundai lantra 1.8

They use throw away bolts. One use only, so don't reuse your old ones. You will need new ones. The smaller bolts 1st torque setting 22Ft/Lbs and the larger 26ft/lbs, the 2nd torque setting 60 degrees both bolt sizes and the 60 degrees for the third.

SOURCE: Engine oil get less every two weeks in my pajero 4m40

Diesels do lose a little oil out the blow-by tube. If the engine temp. is higher then normal then you will lose more then normal amounts. If you are not leaking it then you are burning it, Possibly worn rings, head-gasket, or oil leak inside turbo. 68 MPH and higher doesn't sound unusual, is the engine still stock?

You need 3 basic principles for your vehicle to start fuel/air, timing and spark. You stated it seems like there is no ignition at all. First, I would pull the easiest spark plug attach the plug wire and set it on the manifold and have someone crank your vehicle with you watching the plug to check for a spark you should have a white/blue spark which denotes a high voltage. Next i'd check for fuel pressure, if you have both i would get a obd (on board diagnostic)scanner and check for trouble codes with koeo (key on engine off) if that doesn't produce any codes check your fuses and most importantly if your oil level on the dipstick was dry its going somewhere whether its a leaking gasket a crack in the engine or blow by figure out where

2000 hyundai lantra sportswagon running rough, idling rough also, when accelerating splutters/spurges. Thinking maybe spark plugs or timing belt??

Needs a tune up. Adjust engine timing, replace plugs and plug wires, replace air filter, oil and oil filter, fuel filter and clean fuel injectors, adjust valves.

Location of the oil filter

Its in on the left side front of the engine just below and to the right of the alternator. Its hidden from normal view and access to it is easier once the front wheels have raised by ramps. I apologize that no diagram is available. Regards, Joe

Ebay is your best bet, might also try craigslist, etc.  I know for most cars you can also get a shop manual on Ebay that will include details on maintenance for most if not all of the car.
