Car tugging until it dies out. Will start again after 10-15 min.

I can drive the car all day with no problems, then all of a sudden the car starts tugging and pressing the gas pedal does no good since car will not accelerate. Car dies out, check engine comes on and after 10-15 minutes will start again and then the cycle repeats itself. Then its good for 2 or 3 days?

1991 Cadillac DeVille (has 110,000 miles on it) suddenly dies while driving. Starts and idles fine, but shuts off after driving only 1-2 blocks. What's wrong and how do we fix it?

There are many things that can contribute to this problem. It sounds like it may be ignition related. Possibly an ignition control module or ignition coil. The check engine light coming on while driving is the key to finding the problem. The light comes on when the computer finds a problem and will then store it in its memory. Have the codes checked for what the computer has found to be at fault and with a little diagnostics, should lead you to the problem

Have a 94 Pontiac Bonneville 3800 motor changed sparkplugs fuel pump crank sensor pig tail crank sensor and with no warning at all driving down the road my car dings an alarm 3 times and dies then it will...

I was just thinking about the sudden stall problem ,and no start problem .Have you checked the coil pack. When the car is cold it should start ,when it warms up ,with the under hood temps ,it will probably stall ,again. Try replacing the coil pack .
Hope this helps

Volvo 240 dl 1987 .. fuel issue....driving down the road, car

Sounds like you need a fuel pump. There is an access panel in the floor of the car to get to the pump.

97 lumina, 3.1. Starts runs smooth, drive for 30

I just recently have been fighting the same problem with the same make/model/year vehicle. For myself, I would drive off and on through the day and it would run fine. Then suddenly after a start it would run rough and die. I would have to wait 20 to 60 mins before it would start again. I had it checked and fuel pump was only putting out around 19 psi. It should be around 41 psi. Had fuel pump replaced and no more problems. Furthermore, now it runs so much better. It's funny how over time I didn't notice how the performance was slowly degrading. Unfortunaley fuel pumps for this car run around $300.

The car will run for 10 to 15 min then die then 5 to 10 min after it dies it will start again. it has the 6 cyl

I've seen this with several vehicles within the mid 90s (including a 95 probe) and traced it back each time to the electronic ignition. As the car drives, the ignition coil heats up and becomes more resistive. As this happens, the coil outputs less voltage until finally it's not enough to put out sufficient spark to fire the cylinders.

Try this: Drive the car around for a while. When you start feeling the motor struggle, park somewhere and idle until it dies. Then quickly pop the hood, pull an ignition wire, pop in an extra plug and hold near the block (check for fuel leaks first!!) and observe the spark strength. If it looks weak, a new electronic ignition unit will solve your problem.

Car dies randomly for no reason.

My car use to do the same thing. I would be driving down the road and it would die. after 15 min. or so the car would start. I replaced the crank sensor and this solved my problem.
