Question about 2002 Nissan Altima

The temperature is hot,sameting is cold

The gage for temperature is okey, the liguide is okey (new) have a new
thermostat,two rad is very hot,the temperature in the car is meduim
is hot,is cold not, have very hot temperature and the control is work
very good where is tehe probleme thank you sylvain

Check your fans. I had a similar issue several months back. It appears that the last time I had my car in for maintenance, someone had disconnected both of the wires to my fans.

Thermostat or water pump?


Sounds like a thermostat is being sticky. A water pump issue should cause the vehicle to over heat quickly while driving if it is not pumping.

Heat is not acting right


If you checked properly and coolant/rad isn't getting hot, coolant is up to proper level, then I'd replace thermostat.

Be sure that cooling system has been bled properly after . Start engine while cold with cap off, and heater on. Let engine get up to normal operating temperature and allow thermostat to open and close 2 or 3 times and rev engine slightly once in a while for 5 seconds or so to help improve flow. If you have rad where you can actually look in and see flow, that's better otherwise watch coolant return bottle and temperature gauge. Feel if any difference at heater as you bleed air out. Once you start to feel better /good heat, then it should be bled properly, then top up coolant return bottle and re-install cap properly. Let me know if that helps.

While it doesn't seem likely, if you've changed, or had the thermostat changed.... I'd say you got a faulty thermostat. I am curious as to what your temperature gauge says the temperature of the engine and coolant is.. If your gauge is showing hot, I can think of two more possibilities... the water pump isn't pumping right... and, if the water pump isn't working right, the problem can be a cracked head or block, which can cause an airlock in the coolant system. Check the coolant or radiator cap.

Radiator problems


it may be a little off, but the lower water hose seldom gets very hot,, as its this hose that suplyes the engine with ""cold water"" the hot water comes out the top hose,, drains down the rad and cools on the way down then enters the engine through the bottom hose """if your engine stayes running in the normal place on the gage,,,and not over heating""" why are you spending money for nothing???""
you wont get the bottom hose to run hot unless the engine is cooking

1991 cutlass cieara will only blow cold air when hearter in on Someone said to replace the rad cap but I can't see this being the problem? What should I do ?


The heat will come from heated coolant running through you heater core. There are several reasons for no heat:
1) The heater core is blocked.
2) The coolant is not getting hot.
3) The coolant is low and not getting to the heater core.

Does the engine temperature gage show the engine temp is correct?
Is the coolant at the proper level?
Radiator cap could be bad - not holding pressure, but more likely would be low coolant or an open thermostat. An open thermostat will cause all of the coolant to circulate through the engine and therefore the engine temperature will be cooler than it should be.

Coolant leaks


That's probably coming out of your coolant return bottle. With rad cap off & engine cool, look at your level in the rad, if necessary top it up to an inch or so from top. Start engine, turn heater(not defrost) on and let it run until up to normal operating temperature. Keep an eye on temperature gauge & rad level. When it's at normal, watch for good flow going through rad when thermostat opens. after flow slows down,(thermostat closes) top it up if needed. If you watch 2 or 3 times for flow, and gauge doesn't go over normal, then put cap back on, then fill bottle only to mark for warm or hot engine, with coolant. If gauge goes up over normal from there, replace thermostat, and I'd get a new rad cap too. If that has electric cooling fan, make sure it comes on shortly after you see thermostat open & coolant flowing through rad.
