Question about 1994 Buick Century

URGENT - 1994 Buick LeSabre stalls in mid-ride

My low-mileage 1994 LeSabre is great in just about every way, but now it sometimes stalls while I'm driving. I can be doing 60 miles per hour, and all of a sudden, it just turns itself off. I can usually restart it immediately if I slip it into Neutral, but a couple of times, it has stopped and stayed stopped for 5-10 minutes. After that time period, I can start it up again. Obviously, this is a huge safety issue! Yesterday, it happened to me on a busy highway, and a car almost ran into me from behind. Many thanks for any ideas!

    I have a 1995 Buick LeSabre 6 cyl with only 50,000 miles on it. While driving either at slow or fast speeds--doesn't matter--first the oil light will come on, then all dash lights come on and it dies. Sometimes the battery light clatters, too, sometimes not, but it does come on. I throw it into neutral and it always restarts. Sometimes, however, it takes a bit of cranking to get it started, but this is very, very infrequent that it takes a lot of cranking to restart. It doesn't sound like it's starving for fuel--it just dies. Any suggestions?? At times it will stall out five to seven times in a 15-minute trip. Other times, it will not stall out at all. It has stalled out once crossing a busy intersection. Dangerous situation. Battery cables seem to be tight. I had Autozone run codes on it, and nothing came up. Thank you.

    have a 94 buick park ave had similar problems....for some readons seemas also to cut out when goin round a right hand turn....dont know if this may help or help anyone else solve this prob.....i read the other articles and guna go home and try tapping round the crank sensor....for some reason just have in my head that that very well may be the culprit....if not im thinking bout finding the ecm and tapping on it....wish it would justdie so i can finally figure what it is before i just go replacing my customers parts and wasting oth out time and money....if i find a solution ill be more that happy to share with all...if im still sane

I have the same vehicle, and had the same problem. I took it to my mechanic, and after all of the codes were read we replaced the Ignition Control Module, then the Crankshaft Position Sensor.

It runs just fine now.
Best bet would be to have someone hook up the code reader. The car will tell you what it needs(not specifically, but it'll tell you where to look).

sounds like the egr valve is sticking. remove and clean. or a vacuum hose is leaking

My1998 buick lesabre has just had a low mileage engine and trans installed. 7000 miles every thing works well except the transmission shifts harder than normal is there an adjustment to soften the shift?


there is no adjustment, this trans has computer controlled shifting, you can inquire with the dealer to see if there is a software update to help with this, another thing is dirty/worn out fluid can cause this condition, try changing to the new DEXRON VI ATF, it greatly improves shift quality..

I have a 1994 buick lesabre that keep stalling out


I had the same problem with my 1994 Buick LeSabre. It turned out to be the idler solenoid that is mounted on the top of the engine where the fuel injector is located. The solenoid cost around $80.00 to replace it. I hope this helps you.
