1988 bmw 735i won't start

When you turn the key to start, you should have 12 volts at the small terminal on the starter solenoid.

If you have 12 volts but no cranking the solenoid is not working. If you do not have any voltage on this
terminal there is a problem in the ignition key wiring. If you have no way to measure the voltage, your best bet is to remove the starter and solenoid, take it to an Auto Zone type store and have them check it for you. When you go to remove the starter, be sure to disconnect the ground lead on your battery first.

ckd and replace the main relay square box fuse on the fire wall, where the hood contact the body, on the passenger side. i learned the hard way, trail and error for 2 mos.
