Hyundai Getz leaks near pedals when raining

On the driver's side it appears to be leaking in the corner of the footwell (following rain). The wires above were wet. Under the mat was damp the next day, so I think it's been leaking more than I realized. I only first noticed because it dripped on my foot when I first got into the car and my foot wasn't yet on the pedal. I've seen on another forum something about the heater matrix and to check the radiator level - mine's fine. Thanks in advance.

thanks Bruce and Brandy - I'm not sure if I can comment to each person's post.
Bruce, I was looking suspiciously at the seal at the bottom of the windshield - it appears to have "shrunk" by about 5mm on each end (original windscreen) but only the driver's floor is wet, not the passenger's. I will try the hose and see what happens. (I'm sorry, but I didn't get any notifications about anyone's comments, so I didn't realize some people had tried to help!)

My Getz is also having similar problem. I have thrice got water test done from Hyundai server center. After 2nd test they put some sealants underbody and return the car, but still water was leaking in. 3rd time water test, hyundai said its all fine, no problem but still problem persists. It happens when it rains only, so I dont suspect air-con filters or radiator problems. Water pool is created in driver side footwell only. During heavy rain, I tried to troubleshoot but couldnt find any fault point from where water might be leaking inside. Its second year, I have running into this problem, creating stinking smell inside the car due to wet mats. Looks like I need to do away with my car.

SOURCE: rain water enters car above foot pedal

Water is a tricky problem sometimes. If your A/C drain is plugged water can't drain from you air plenum you were looking into, so check the drain located below the heater motor and make certain no debris has blocked it.
Next, if the windshield sealer has deteriorated it can cause a leak. ( you haven't had the windshield replaced lately?).
The brake vacuum booster has a weather proof seal between the booster and the firewall, it may have deteriorated.
Anything that goes through the front of the dash should be suspect.
A good way to check is to use a garden hose and place it in particular spots and check inside for leaks. That way, you can narrow down the area that is leaking.
Good luck, let me know.
Regards,

SOURCE: Coolant leak in VW Golf mark 5 1.9 TDi auto DSG

There is, however, an air outlet into the driver's foot area. If the heater core is leaking, the air coming through the heater core will carry the droplets into the entire air ducting system. The driver's foot area may be the closest outlet. If it smells like coolant, you need to replace the heater core regardless of where in the cabin the coolant is coming out.

SOURCE: after it rains water is in trunk Nissan Altima

When diagnosing a water leak, here's a handy tip. Check the accumulated water. If the water is dirty, look for leaks from the underside of the vehicle (floor, wheelwells, etc). If the accumulated water is clean, look for leaks from the topside of the vehicle (trunk seal, window seal, etc). To find where the water is coming from, shut yourself in the trunk with a flashlight and have an assistant run water over the trunk with a garden hose. You may have to remove some of the interior trunk trim to see exactly were the water is coming from, but chances are you'll find it. Also another common cause of water leaks are from impact damage, so check for collision damage repair. while your in there. -hope this helps.

1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. Water is leaking behind fuse box in the corner behind pedals on drivers side.

Question edited for clarity, year make model first, 'petal' to 'pedal'.
Question moved to model category.

I have seen a video where dirt and leaves build up in the well that is under where the windscreen wipers emerge from, back of the engine bay.

There are other ideas in videos here

Rain water leaking in drivers side vauxhall meriva

if this is a new shape meriva the problem is the wiper scuttle seal leaking water .it drips into the engine bay, onto the heater pipes and tracs into the cabin.Pour water onto the screen and look into the engine bay, just behind the engine and you will see it drip onto the heater pipes where they enter the bulkhead. It then tracs into the cabin and soaks the carpet. The problem is a foam seal on the scuttle panel when it should be a rubber one.One fix is to ensure that the seal where the heater pipes enter via the engine bay is dry and spray it and the pipes with underseal.Vauxhall are aware but dont have a solution?

I have water leaking into passanger footwell . the garage has tried everything. are they missing something

That's usually caused by either a leaking heater core (does it smell like coolant?) or a leaking condensation line on the AC unit (it will appear to be water). It could always be a leak in the footwell or the windows too, but that would only appear when there is rain.
