1999 Honda Passport idle problem-no check engine light on

My 4WD passport idles anywhere from 2400 to 3300 RPM. I changed a couple of sensors for a check engine light about 4 months ago and the light went out. The light has not come on even though this idle is way out of normal zones. I added some injector cleaner to a tank of gas but that hasn't worked. Any ideas?

My check engine light is off, but the engine is idling about 3000 RPM. I've already changed the IAC, with no change. When I disconnect the battery, it resets for a couple of days, then starts idling higher again. What could be causing this?

TRY SPRAYING BRAKE CLEAN AROUND THE INTAKE ALONG THE VALVE COVERS IF THE IDLE CHANGES YOU HAVE BAD INTAKE GASKETS ALSO LOOK AT THE FUEL PRESSURE REGULTOR PULL THE HOSE OFF IF THERE IS GAS IN THE HOSE THEN YOU HAVE A BAD REGULATOR

I doubt the two problems are connected.
The high idle could be a vac leak or a sticky idle speed control valve.

Hi,
You're kidding right?

Is the door open or closed when the idle issue occurs?

This is the same as an Isuzu Rodeo. I'd go look on the Honda/Isuzu online forums for an answer.

yes the tps could be the problem, but you need to use a scanner to determine the problem, don't just randomly replace parts, you could also have a problem with the air flow sensor, again use a scanner to determine the problem

Sorry for the delay, having my shoulder rebuilt. The gaskets between the upper &lower plenum are a steel/plastic assembly, known to crack and cause a vacuum leak. This will cause a hard start cold and a higher than normal idle when warm.Usually by the time you notice these things the check engine light is on, indicating the idle speed is out of range. The intake can be separated, just enough,to replace the gaskets without removing fuel lines etc.find an experienced Isuzu or Honda technician..It should be about 1.5-2 hour job

2000 HOnda Passport with rough idle, how do I identigy a vacuum leak or any other problem which might cause a rough idle

you can use propane to find a vacuum leak take a bottle and put a rubber hose on it so you can direct it in specific spots and just let a little gas flow if you find a vacuum leak it will bring the RPM of the motor up slightly do not light the torch just let the gas come out
