Sound to me like you have your cat plugged and should have your backpressure check to make sure.

Kia hissing noise when accelerating

If it seems to have a loss of power you may have a clogged exhaust, (muffler) system, again if you have a loss of power or it runs ruff check for a vacuum leak.

2002 Mitsubishi Galant ''hissing noise''

I would first try to locate the source of the hissing. Try spraying some engine starting fluid around the hissing area and home in on the source. The engine revs will change as the starting fluid is drawn into the engine. Sounds though more like a vacuum as you have suggested.

If you heard a hiss, that's probably what to look for. With your engine running, wiggles all your vacuum lines around, and try to find that hiss again. It will be a broken or cracked or loose vacuum line somewhere. A stethoscope, or a length of fuel hose held to your ear can sometimes help you find them.

That hissing could be a vaccuum system leak, have youe tried pinpointing the sound from under the hood?

Car hissing sound

The noise maybe the p/s pump fluid return,GM had some problem with this but nothing bad. GM makes a resticter that goes in the return line of the pump, it will slow the fluid down going back in the pump stopping the hissing sound.

Noise coming from the carburator

hello there does it make a hissing or sucking kind of noise ? if so this sounds like there is a split in the induction pipe(the pipe that comes from the carb to the air filter), this would cause the car to take in to much air hence lack of acceleration,so check pipe for splits .also you could cup your hand round the pipe while someone is revving the car for you, work your way down the pipe to see if you can feel any suction if so the pipe is split thanx please rate me if you found this usefull
