If it is a power mirror, you need to remove the door panel. If it is manual, you simply need to remove the triangular plastic trim behind the mirror, three 10 millimeter bolts. If you need instructions for the panel removal, please post back. I can give you the info.

Pull off the triangle shaped cover on the inside of the door panel over the mirror area by prying it off.
Remove the three 10mm nuts behind the cover, unplug the connector and slide the mirror off the door.

Heated mirrors usually have a symbol on them -- a small diagram showing squigley heat lines.

If you don't see this, it's probably not heated. But when you take the mirror off, if it's heated it'll have wires connected to the back.

Yes, you can replace a heated mirror with non-heated -- just leave the wires tucked out of the way when you install the new mirror.

Replacing drivers side rear view mirro in Mitsubishi Galant 1997

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door

take the screws out, pop off the panel, disconnect the wire connectors, make sure you dont lose the screws.

to put the panel back on: reconnect the wire connectors, put panel back on track, pop panel on (hit the corners), put the screws in and tighten them.

Rear view mirrors

It's usually a mechanical problem and they really aren't repairable.

I replaced the ones on my 83 Celica GT with replacement units that I bought on-line from Redneck Auto Parts for about $60 each.
