Question about 2004 Volkswagen Golf

Emissions garage fault.

Hi, I have a mk 5 golf 2.0l tdi 4motion. When I start the car the engine management light stays on and a message on the screen says "Emissions Garage". I had this fault about two months ago and took it to the main dealer and they told me that my turbo needed changing. As the car was still under warrenty I got them to put the new turbo on. Now I have the same message on the screen but the warrenty has now run out. Could this be a fault with the new turbo, or is their other things that can cause this message to appear. Thanks Lee Marsland

Can be other things,we see a few that require throttle body changes,it would be easier to get the car plugged in and see what the fault code is,if you let me know i will be able too help...

Have the computer scanned. If you have a service engine or emissions light on then a service code has been stored in the computer and only a scan will tell you what the problem is.

Passat 2.0 tdi se 06 engine warning light on emissions garage

If light is on at start up its usually a glow plug gone .Won't make any differance to driving. You should get a diagnostic scan done which will tell you which plug is at fault.

Golf gt tdi 2.0 140 bhp mk 5 - esp light

When there's something wrong with the brake pressure that handbrake warning light comes on.

The ESP warning light could be caused by a lot of things, but most likely it's a dirty fuel filter. Don't take my word for it though, just go to the VW dealer and have it read the faultcodes from the ECU, which should point you/them in the right direction.

Alternatively, when you have the right equipment (= VAGCOM + cable) and knowledge, you or a friend yould diagnose the ECU yourself.

From the sounds of it, you'll need a small service (air filter and oil filter change, etc.) anyways. Don't forget to reset the ECU (or dis- and reconnect the battery) afterwards to erase the faultcode from memory (when there's still something wrong, it'll return soon enough).

You might get lucky with a small service :)

when the glow plug light keeps flashing.Thats telling you that you have a fault with one of the sensors.Take it to a garage and get it checked out with a diagnostic scan.

Engine management fault

this is going to sound nuts but its true.if your brakelight switch is defective that light will flash.
see if you brake lights are working.if it is automatic trans you will notice the shifter will not always release when you depress brake pedal.
if its not brakelight switch get it autoscaned with a VAG.com

We think it could be the engine management system - would recommend going to a reputable garage for it to be reprogrammed.
