Ed, the local repair shop here in Mt.Shasta ( AKA The land of no Repair) said they could check it in a week. So i'm stuck till then. I also say several post from others that had a clogged MAF sensor, Would it help to try cleaning it with some electronic cleaner?

Grasping at straws in remote northern california.

    Thanks, Jess

Thanks Ed, I took the MAF apart, it was a little dirty, so I sprayer the **** out of it. I drove it to town, It was running a bit better & the check engine lite was off, until I pulled it back in the garage, then the damn lite came back on. O'Well I guess i'll have to wait till next week & get it checked then.

Thanks for your help though, Now I know where the MAF is.

Ed, I finally got my tacoma to the repair shop. First they said that the #4 injector was bad, then when I called before they closed for the day, they said that didn't fix the problem. So i'm waiting for them to open to see what they came up with.

What makes an injector go bad? Iv'e had 6 toyota trucks over the years and never had any real problems with them.

Also you should have seen the look on the guys face when I told him I cleaned the MAF sensor. I guess he thought a girls shouldn't enjoy fixing things.

Get the codes and get back to me. You may need a second drive cycle to relearn the ecu the correct fuel trims with the now-clean MAF.

WIthout the codes, it is hard for me to say...but, cleaning the MAF never hurts. Look at the intake tube, between the air filter box and the metal intake manifold. There is a small black box, held in by 2 phillips screws. Unplug the wiring connector, and remove the 2 screws. Extract the MAF out of the tube, and, using a flashlight, inspect the interior of the sensor. What you will see is a small bulb-looking thing, and 2 VERY small silver wires. If there is any type of "fuzzys" or other debris on the internal silver wires, you do have a problem. Get some brake cleaner spray from the local auto parts store & spray the daylights out of it until the wires are perfectly clean. Please do NOT use compressed air, the blast of air may break the wires. Once the MAF is clean, put it all back together and drive it. Advise of how she runs. It will take several miles for the ECU to see and learn the new MAF values transmitted. Hope this will help you. Please get back to me.

Perhaps I can help you. Have you had the vehicle hooked up to a scan tool, and retreived the codes (the reason for the check engine light)? If I had the codes, I could give you some reliable information to cure your problem. Please respond back. Thanks.

Still need the codes.
Injectors can go "bad" in a couple of different ways; all they are is an electromagneticaly controlled nozzle. When the ECU "fires" the injector, it pulses a ground circuit for 4-8 milliseconds, the electromagnet powers up, the valve at the bottom of the injector opens, and the fuel shoots out, under pressure. The wire can be bad/chafed/corodded/ The electromagnet may be weak. The nozzle may be stuck. Lots of things. But, to put in an injector for a number 4 cylinder misfire (p-0304 code) would be one of the last things that I would do.

-Test all injector's resistant to find the problem before replace it.
-Possibly fuel pressure or bad spark plug line.

1990 dodge Dynasty bad gas mileage and now cutting out real bad. Changed spark plug wires, spark plugs and fuel filter. Ran good for a test run right after installing items. This morning ran fine the 5...

May just be some dirty fuel, or clogged dirty air filter...try putting 2 bottles of fuel injector/carb cleaner in the tank to be sure dirty fuel has been treated. Did your Dynasty sit for a period of time? (Not driven or run for several months, or did you let the fuel tank get very low? Same remedy. Hope this helps..

I have a 99 pathfinder 4X4 V6 it sputters when i give it gas and it continues to sputter after shifting in2 second gear and continues the entire time well driving and well iyx n park it spitters likd it...

First try and spray down the spark plug wires with some water from a spray bottom and see if the start arcing (you must have the truck running at all times to test this). If not that then clamp off the return fuel line and see fi anything vchanegs. let me know from there.

2006 Toyota Tacoma Low Mileage or Not...Spark Plug Life

24 mpg on the highway is actually pretty good for that truck. at 48000 miles and being 3 years old its time for plugs, air filter, and fuel filter if available. thats cheap maintenance for now. but if very self conscious, run some fuel injector cleaner first, then change the plugs, because any octane booster or fuel injector cleaner can run the risk of fouling out a plug, by creating a hotter spark then what, normal gas does. the burn is hotter.

The cylinders are numbered as on the spark pack you changed. You might have done better putting the seafoam in the tank as an injector cleaner. Not sure why you changed so many parts, you seem to know how to get the codes from test connector lead hookup and the blink pattern. You might also want to check the fuel rail pressure and the crank and cam angle sensors. Before replacing the injector, swap the #4 injector with the adjacent one and see it the code moves with the injector or stays put. If the code stays on #4, then check the injector wiring, if it moves clean or replace the injector.

2000 toyota tacoma 2.4l wont start when cold

clogged injectors you need to put cleaner in the fuel to help get dirt and grit out of them some times (every 3 months).
I am assuming you are saying it will turn over but not fire and run when cold?

1992 Chrysler LeBaron 3.0 L. V6 Engine runs beautifully but after 16-20 miles highway driving engine stalls as if flooded, or as if fuel is cut-off. After sitting for a few minutes, will start and run...

the owner probably rerouted the fuel line because like my 92 chrysler lebaron v6 3.0 the fuel lines keep seeming to come off and the clamps always break. I have replaced the clamps 5 times in a month and replaced filters 2 times in 2 months. The only thing i could think of is that your fuel is being cut off possibly because there is no filter to clean all the junk out. Try putting a fuel filter on and see if that will work
