I was told that it could possibly be the belts slipping, so i bought belt dressing and sprayed the belts as best i could but the problem persists. The smell gets worse the longer we drive, im afraid my engine is going to blow up or something.

sounds about right. timimg belts are not replaced that frequently. I have a truck with over 80,000 miles, and haven't replaced the belt yet.

sounds like the timing belt it has a interference engine so if the timing belt broke you could have bent rods and cracked pistons or worse. good luck

yes, this is VERY IMPORTANT, this is an interference engine, meaning the valves and the piston cannot be in the same place at the same time,or it will bend the valves.then you are looking at a major repair job, think or it as insurance on your engine. please rate my fix as i strive to be the best, questions, get back to me

Maybe you have a bearing going out on one of the pully's. Have you cleaned up the surface real good before butting the new belt on. Use alot of brake clean and wipe all the pully's and idlers real good. Be sure the replacement belts arnt longer than the original one. They sometimes get it wrong at the parts house. If your car has a tensioner it may be getting weak
