2001 accent transmission problem

I have a 2001 accent with 101,056 miles. The transmission started acting up like the filter was stopped up. I changed the filter and the problem is still there.

When you get in to drive the car sometimes it acts up and sometimes it is fine.

The car just slams or jerks into gear. When in gear it can’t make its mind up which gear it need to be in. ( when the car should be in 3 its still in 1)

Could the transmission sensor help the problem

There was no sign of any gears stripped.

Please let me know what you think

If you have a check light on then of course that would be your best bet to go to Autozone or elsewhere and have them pull the codes for you to try and give you a clear understanding. If the light is not on but the car just does like you are indicating sometimes, then in almost all certainty it is the transmission speed sensor. They are not all that expensive (I had a Kia before and I believe it was around $30). And they are not all that difficult to change out. engine-light-help.com gives some information on speed sensors and some checks you can do. Hope this helps.

Yes, it's probably the transmission sensor.

It's worth getting second opinions because a lot of inexpensive little parts can go wrong and make it look like you need a whole new transmission.

For example, it could be the oxygen sensor. If it can't read the exhaust correctly, then it gives bad info to the engine's computer chip and screws everything up.

If you have an AutoZone nearby (or a friendly mechanic) they can read the "check engine" codes. That will help narrow it down.

Good luck! I hope it's an easy fix.

Ran out of gas, only had small gas jug that held 4$. It took a good 5 min.s to get it to start. Got about 2 miles down the rd. it died. Got 5$ more in it which put it to over 1/4 tank, still wouldn't...

I would start by changing the fuel filter. Often when you run out of gas, it sucks in all the dirt that has settled to the bottom of the tank and causes problems.

What does a 54,000 maintenace entail for 2006 accent

You need to flush your radiator and coolant system out. Change your transmission fluid and filter. It wouldn't hurt to change your spark plugs and wires, but this is usually 60,000-70,000 miles. Check all your fluids. Grease all your axle points as well. Check your wheel alignment.

2001 F350 SUPER DUTY; I ran my transmission about a quart low on transmission fluid. It ocaisionly shifts from 1st to 2nd irregularly and slips in 2nd. I can stop then start again and it shifts normaly.

Replace the transmission filter. If transmission still acts up some trash may have penetrated the filter and be causing a shift valve to stick. A teardown and rebuild may be necessary.

TIMING CHAIN CHANGE

hyundai recommends replacing the belt every 60,000 miles or 48 mos and this is an "interference" engine which means if the belt breaks, it will cause internal engine damage. happy holidays

2001 Hyundai Accent - Automatic Trasmission fluid

It is a proprietary Hyundai transmission fluid. Don't use anything other than the Hyundai stuff. This fluid has superb lubrication properties, but it breaks down much quicker than the specified 30,000 mile fluid change intervals. I highly recommend having both the fluid and filter changed once a year or once every 15,000 to 20,000 miles.

Just had oil changed, dipstick reads full, but oil light flickers

the light is probably sending an OIL Pressure drop warning ---there is a rarity however
an oil filter may be improperly installed or the OIL Pressure connection on the oil pressure
sending unit --usually next to the filter --is loose or corroded or the oil pressure sending unit may
be going bad ---on a 2001 it is conceivable
otherwise you have an internal oil pressure leak --crank or cam bearings --bad o ringy thingy somewhere or the oil pump --may be experiencing problem too or the pick up screen in the oil pan
is somwhat clogged ---for a clog --try what's called SEAFOAM in the oil ---the stuff actually works
like it says on the can --about 8 bucks --drive for a week --say 500 miles worth and change the oil filter again --just the filter ---either way OIL Pressure is nothing to ignore ---you need to fix that
asap depending on the problem source!!!
I hope this helps
