retired from Dodge. we always removed the bolts of the bed and picked the bed up and carried it back. in older trucks you can run into strap issues. disconect harness and hoses tap ring w/ hammer and chiesel. should lift right out.

Truck idles, but stalls when given gas

Sounds like it may be a fuelpump, the best way to know for sure is with a fuel gauge,as far as interchangeable pumps it depends on the motor size, and tank size, the 1995 1996 are interchangeable depending if its a returnless fuel system, as you go up it years there are diffrent fuel modules and diffrent tank sizes,

1996 DODGE DAKOTA 3.9 NO POWER TO THE COIL

Check the auto shut down relay. It powers up the coil. But only for 3 seconds after you turn the key on or when cranking. If you just have the key on, you won't have any power at the coil.

if ur dakota has good oil presure ,check to see if oil sending unit is leaking oil,if so replace it ,it needs replacing any way. very low oil presure will not allow fuel pump to come on threw this sending unit

Sounds like the timing belt/chain has jumped a tooth. If the on board computer were out I am not sure the motor would respond this way. Check timing Good Luck
