Question about 2000 Lincoln Continental

Alarm on my 2001 Lincoln Continental has been going off

In the last few days my car alarm has just gone off for no reason. It first started at about 3 or 4:00 a.m. The next day my ride levelers went out on the back of my car and I had them replaced with struts and shocks. I have my car out of the shop, but the alarm is still going off sporadically. Any ideas? Can the sensitivity of the alarm be adjusted?

I have the same problem with the alarm. The first time it went off was about 3am, then about 10am, then about 9pm. The horn sounds and lights blink. It is a factory system. It won't turn off by pressing alarm button on remote. You have to press unlock button for alarm to go off. A day or two before, I tried the drivers door lock and the trunk lock with the key. Could this have anything to do with my problem?

I have just enountered the same problem with my 2001 Continental. For the last 3 weeks the alarm goes off at all odd hours both during the day and night. Some times it is every day and other times it is every 3 days. I even put out a surveilance camera to monitor where I park and no human or animal has been near the car, the alarm just goes off. I don't see anything physically wrong with the car. Is it possible that RF interference is setting it off?

If the alarm light is blinking, then the issue could be with the vehicle immobilizer or key. The key may need rematching to the vehicle's ECU, which will need reprograming by the manufacturer service centre.

The alarm system goes off inexplicably while locked and parked. How should this problem be diagnosed and repaired? I have had two electrical shops run diagnostic tests to no avail.

Are your door sensors saying the doors are open when they are closed periodicaly? If so this is what is causing your alarm to go off. You can spray inside your door latches with WD40 to fix the problem. You may have to soak the latches down 2 or 3 days in row with WD40 before it will work but after a few days it will fix the problem.

Have a 1998 lincoln continental that has factory alarm. but i dont have a keypad. i would like 2 disarm it, it goes off for no reason.

if its an aftermarket alarm, which im sure it is, find the brain to the aftermarket alarm and unhook it. trace the brain back from the car alarm siren hardware. it shoud b mounted somewhere under the hood. theres not a lot of available space in the engine compartment. so you should easily find the siren hardware. trace the wiring back to the brain and disconnect it. it cant be factory alarm. factory alarm only goes off when u dont use keyless remote or key to unlock a locked door or trunk. factory alarm blows horn and blinks parking lights

My alarm keeps going off on my 97 continental

sounds like you may have a faulty ground wire to your alarm system short of un hooking the battery i would suggest going to a garage and have it inspected

1999 car alarm goes off when the car is locked.

Not a solution, but details about the same problem with my car: I have a 99 Lincoln Continental and have noticed correlations between certain conditions and the frequency of the car alarm going off.

When it is hotter outside, the alarm goes off more frequently than when it is colder.

The more of a slant the car is parked on, the more often the alarm goes off. My boyfriend's driveway is on an incline and any time I park my car there, the alarm will go off every 30 seconds. If I move the car to the level street, it doesn't go off at all. This has been noticed on other slanted places I've attempted to park as well.
