I know how to reset for an oil change. With the oil change the light remains illuminated, for the duration of operation, my problem is flashing six times, and then going off.

Thank you! I noticed the same in my car and looks your solution fixed it.

If you did the reset proceedure, the light should not flash. The light does flash, by design, to flash 5-6 times after 4,500 miles, and then it will stay on after 5,000 miles. When you do the reset, are you seeing the dashes and the zeros?

You are due for an oil change, or, the last person who performed your oil change did not reset the lamp.

Please comment back if you would like the procedure to do it yourself.

NEEDS AN OIL CHANGE. YOU CAN RESET IT YOUR SELF. HOLD IN THE "TRIP" BUTTON AND TURN THE KEY ON (DO NOT START IT) 5 DASHES APPEAR AND DISAPPEAR 1 AT A TIME THEN 5 "0"'S AND YOUR DONE. SOMETIMES THEY HAVE TO BE ON "TRIP A" BEFORE YOU START

Flashing of maintenance light in 2009 venza when oil has just been changed in the last six weeks

maintenance lights often mean nothing except that a certain period of time or mileage has passed. Whoever changed the oil probably didnt reset the maintenance counter.

Start when the battery load voltage change ... the lack of instantaneous voltage, all right, normal.

My service engine soon light came on in my 1998 oldsmobile bravada almost 2 weeks ago, but it had not been running any differently so I assumed maybe I needed an oil change. I got one yesterday, then last...

The check engine light comes on to tell you there is a problem with engine management (computer controls). It has nothing to do with vehicle maintenance. Have the computer scanned for trouble codes. If the light is on there will be codes. If it is flashing it means the problem is a little more urgent and the catalytic converter could be damaged as a result of the current problem. Typically flashing check engine lights indicate there is a cylinder misfire.

Orange wrench light in the dash warning lights is on. What does that indicate?

That light indicates that your vehicle requires maintenance. On GM vehicles, this light comes on if the computer has found that the vehicle is in need of an oil change. When did you last change your oil?

When i start the car the maitenence required light flashes a number of times and then goes off

The vehicle has either reached the mileage necessary for oil change and other maintenance, or whoever performed the last service did not reset the computer.

My TCS indicator light comes on and stays on

some markets have a button on the dash with tcs/abs and a dash light saying "tcs off".if your car has not got the button then you cant turn it off(germany yes.uk no)abs/tcs should only be turned off in deep snow, otherwise best left alone, unless you have been taught how to drive with/without.....(on ice you wants the wheels to turn,on snow you want the snow to wedge to slow you down......)see what i mean???

Maintenance Required light came on & stayed on after oil change

I get many calls a week for this procedure...
This is really easy! Follow these directions:

Turn the key ON

Look at the odometer, and verify that it displays "ODO" and the total mileage traveled. If it is on "Trip A" or "Trip B", press the black stick next to the odometer to read "ODO", and the total miles traveled.

Turn the key OFF.

Press in, and HOLD the black trip meter reset button, hold it in.
DO not release it.

Turn the key ON

Observe the Odometer display. The total mileage traveled will disappear, and you will see 5 dashes, then 4, then 3, then 2, then 1 dash, and finally, 5 zeros. Then, the total mileage traveled will redisplay.

Release the black trip meter reset stick.

This completes the reset procedure, and it will be back on in 5,000 miles, to remind you of you next oil change.
If you do NOT see the dashes, followed by the 5 zeros, start the entire procedure again, but start with the odometer set to TRIP "A". Some vehicles use Trip A instead of the ODO.

You do NOT START the vehicle at any time during the reset procedure.
If the engine starts, the procedure will not reset.

Maintenance Light - water loss?

Whenever the AC is on, moisture (humidity) is removed from the interior of the car, and this moisture becomes liquid, and is drained out via a tube that comes from the AC box under the dash., This is a normal occurance.

The MAINT light flashes at 4,500 miles, to remind you an Oil Change is due, and the light will stay on at 5,000 miles, since the last reset of the Maint lamp. The lamp must be reset after every oil change, it does not reset itself.

Hope this helps, and thanks for choosing FixYa to get help on you problem.
