Question about 2002 Jeep Liberty

1 Answer

Elctrical My radio stopped working then later in the week my windshield wipers stopped and then I had no speedometer. It seems like every electrical thing jsut is going out slowly. Last year I changed the computer moduale and it seems like the same thing. I am trying to find out if this is common in the 2002 Jeep Liberty's.

I have seen this before if someone has worked on the car the main harness that goes into steering column is loose or not snapped in all the way remove lower panel under steering column and possibly bezel around column then insure all harnesses are plugged in tight you can run car as you wiggle these harnesses to find the culprit

sounds like might b a main fuse. do u have a kick panel and a box under the hood? sometimes a main relay or fuse will cause many electric things to go out.

Gas gage and speedometer not working

You should start with you fuse block itself. For that many different things to be not working the one thing they have in common is the fuse box. if the fuses are good you may have a faulty fuse box itself. Use a voltmeter and test the slots to the fuses for each electrical item. If you dont have voltage going to your fuses then the box needs replacing. If you do then either fuses need replacing or damaged or broken wiring.

Battery indicator light comes on above idle RPM, gauges start fluctuating.

The first thing you need to know is what the alternator output is when this starts happening.
It could be a faulty connection in the wiring harness, or a bad ground connection, or a failing alternator.

Engine dies while driving.

the noise you heard in the rear was the electric fuel pump working but it sounds like you have an electrical issue check your wire harness for areas that wires chaffed on metal and cause break in the electric current some known areas are inbetween the radiator and the transmission down towards the tranny pan also check fuse panel might have a loose fuse
