A/C sounds like an issue with the a/c module which is unusual. There used to be a test sequence on the earlier a/c units not sure if it is on the 4.2. Check all fuses there are four fuse boxes. one at the end of the dash by the door and two under the bonnet. the radio/cd player etc is all one unit (medIa unit), that would explain why they all are not working. I think the a/c fault is connected to the media unit but not sure how. Need to study the wiring diagram for this, I take that it is a 4.2. Jaguar diagnostics will show the fault or give a lot more guidance. Generic scanners wont pick up the fault codes for things like this they are manufacturer specific. That's how manufacturers lighten your wallet. website jagrepair has all the electrical diagrams free.
Locate the fuse box on the side of the dash on the drivers side, there should be a side panel on the drivers side of the dash that will pop off.Find fuse #26 which should be a 30 amp fuse in this side fuse box. With the key off remove this fuse for about 5 minutes then reinstall it and turn on the key and see if the sound and cd changer come back. This will reset the audio amplifier. If it fixes this problem then the amplifier is at fault and needs replaced (this is common).
This audio system and components is tied in a series with fiber optics,if one component fails it can cause faults with other audio components like the cd changer. The cd changer can also cause this problem and cause a fault with no sound from the amplifier.
If the fuse reset doesn't work then the system will have to be checked by a dealer using their fiber optic by pass connectors and sds machine to locate which component is causing this. From what is described and most common is the amplifier but this may also possibly be the cd changer causing this as well.
hi margie, your fault lies with the power line feeding both your clock and car radio units. check the fuse of the line feeding your radio/clock section. the fuse box should have the areas clearly marked. also check if the ground connection to radio/clock is not diconnected sumhow. if this advice does not help then it wub advisable for you to consult with nearest auto-elecrician. cheers.
have a x5 4.8is the on the left hand side i heard a a knocking noise under the car round the passenger footwell then when i parked in up ten minutes later the whol front end has dropped and back is ok..it has air suspension.. but explain the banging before it dropped..
if you look in the front fuse box there should be a fuse associated with the sound system. what u need to do is take out all the fuses that have radio/cd changer and navsystem*(if there is satnav). You need to take all these fuses out check them. if they are all good clean the contact with a bit of still wool and wipe them, then just put them back in. you have to have all of them out before you replace them. it should work fine after that.
Hi kuldipdhanja this sounds like it could be an internal fault with the video module or the sat nav drive, you could try discontecting the battery negative lead for 15 minutes to reset the control units, you will have to remove the spare wheel and unfasten the air compressor bracket to get to the battery, this fix may only be temporary but it is alot cheaper than replacing parts. regards mark.
