Question about 1996 Lexus ES 300

Left turn signal blinks fast - etc..

The left turn signal blinks fast. The fuse checked out okay. What's puzzling is it worked normal a couple ot times. But as soon as I used it again, the problem came back. I was reading through some forum tech advise sites and it suggested to replace the flasher. How? Or is this the right fix? By the way, whenever I rolldown the driver power window my headlights dims down. So I think there's an electrical issue as well.

Also, I bought this car used and I've had it for 1 1/2 years now. I want to replace the shocks/struts because the handling is so bad. Right now its got sets of Monroe which I'm guessing the previous owner opted for a cheaper replacement. I got an estimate from a local Lexus dealer and they quote me $1,865 to replace all four. Is this too much? Is KYB GR-2 a good alternative?

Thanks
Robert

Hi Robert, I have had this problem with a couple of other makes of vehicle and it was caused by one of the bulbs blowing which makes the flasher unit operate faster as it powering only one bulb. if you haven't checked the bulbs then might be worth having a look b4 you replace the flasher unit. can't offer any help on your other issues. regards John

Try checking the bulbs one side flashing fast is a bulb out or a resistance problem.headlight problem is a feed wire getting hot to teh fuse panel or a bodged wiring job somewhere in the vehicles life causing the feed for the headlights to be routed with the window winder.as for the shock absorbers ,well doesnt the vehicle have an annual safety inspection where the wheels are put on a plate in the ground that vibrates up and down and checks the shock absorber for resistance

2011 Ford Edge Rear Left Turn Signal not working - Bulb and Socket confirmed good. Fuse Controlling both Left Front and Rear turn light confirmed good. Front Left turn light working fine.

The flasher is under the dash.If you turn on the signal listen for it's location.Turn on your 4 way flasher and see if the left rear light is flashing. If it's not then replace the bulb.If it still does'nt work after replacing the bulb check if there is power to the socket. Use a probe light. If no power to the socket. There is a break in the wire or worse the signal switch may be the culprit

Alpha Romeo 156 My Left hand indicator light stays on continually, does not flash. and when I turn the hazard light switch on both indicators continually glow.

Generally speaking, symptoms of a bad or failing turn signal bulb are usually the culprit...in your case, either it's the front left or rear bulb. Varies for different vehicle makes...common signs include:
  1. turn signal light staying on solid
  2. or blinking very fast
  3. or either sides of the bulbs stop blinking altogether.
To test this, make sure you reconnect everything you disconnected.
Turn the left signal light on; go to the front of the vehicle, is the turn signal bulb illuminated? If it lights up, even though it is not blinking obviously the bulb is okay. If it doesn't, replace it- problem solved. You'll do the same procedure for the rear turn signal Is that lit up? If not replace the bulb and the problem is solved.
Another common failure is when the turn signal blinks really fast, same procedure as mentioned above.
If both bulbs for the left side and right side illuminate but don't blink, the problem is in the steering column turn signal switch.
If the left or right side blinkers don't work properly at all...then check the integrated hazard warning/turn signal flasher relay- that may be defective; again, that's usually the case if both sides of the signal light don't work.
If you are blowing any fuses related to the flasher system, you have an electrical overload in the turn signal circuitry.

Ford f150 truck flasher relay

I doubt it is the flasher since it handles both sides. A more likely cause is a faulty bulb socket or wiring problem.

Usually a fast turn signal means that there is a light out. You should probably check all of your lights, including back-up lights, and turn signals. If there is one out then replacing the burnt out bulb should fix the problem.
