I think the engine is misfiring because of cam position sensor. These can be the possible causes :
- Faulty Intake Camshaft Position sensor
- Faulty Camshaft Position Solenoid Valve
- Engine mechanical condition - Valve timing off
- Intake Camshaft Position sensor harness is open or shorted
- Intake Camshaft Position sensor circuit poor electrical connection

I have a 2001 BMW 740il. Error code per Autozone is P0343. Can you tell what that is and how to fix it. Thanks IM

P0343 - Camshaft Position Sensor 'A' Circuit High InputI'm surprised Autozone didn't give you a printout of the possible causes or tell you what they were. These are possible causes but it could also be the wiring in the system too.

- Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor
- Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted
- Camshaft Position Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty starter motor
- Starting system circuit
- Dead (Weak) battery

My car mercedes benz just stop in the middle of the road. the dealer told me the gas tank sensor is bad and charge me $1000.00. is this the price for a sensor and instalation? Geta Ban

This should be the price of the parts, labor, and diagnostics. If you are handy and want to do this yourself, I recomend going through silverstar Mercedes recycling in Fresno, CA. I've done a lot of business through them and they sell high quality parts.

I have a 2001 ford powerstroke diesel it was

Could be the Camshaft Position Sensor (CPS) again. Did you have it replaced by the dealer on the Ford unlimited recall ? It's easy to check...get under the front end of the truck and look up by the harmonic balancer (sits behind the main pulley) on the passenger side and you'll see a sensor (could be brown but I believe that one was the recall color, most likely it will be black) with two wires coming out. Is it secured onto it's mounting bracket ? Is the wiring plug snug into it's socket ? If so...it could very well be a defective CPS. It's not unusual. Any possibility your batteries drained to a point where it's not cranking out enough ? Also consider, you may have originally had a different issue besides the CPS.

Where and how do you put a cam sensor on a Ford f350 powerstroke diesel motor?

Camshaft Position Sensor located above front crankshaft pulley. Use 10mm socket on 1/4" drive ratchet. Crawl under front of vehicle, disconnect electrical lead, remove bolt, clean timing chain cover area, install new CPS. About $27 at Ford dealer. On some years this is covered under a recent RECALL by Ford...after years of litigation.
