I have a 2001 Toyota Camery my transmission fluid all leaked out in a matter of one month. I never saw one drop of transmission fluid leaking. Does it leak out only when I drive? Does it have something to do with the overdrive? Can I switch the overdrive off when I come off the freeway to drive in town with out stopping the car?

Have a transmission professional shop check the cooler lines to the radiator
when you are driving that is the only system outside of the the transmission that is under pressure
could be cracked or loose
you can drive your car anywhere without using overdrive
it is only there to save money as it reduces the engine rpm by 250 rpm and you go faster

SOURCE: leaking transmission fluid

This problem if left unrepaired can cost you thousands of dollars.
Transmission fluid will typically be red in color,,and will leak from near the center of the underside of the car.
Take it into a repair center as soon as you can

SOURCE: Transmission fluid, power steering fluid leak cause burnt smell?

The smell you are probably smelling is the fluids that are leaking hitting something hot like the exaust. Unless the leaks are so severe that it takes constant refilling then you should be ok. But be aware that when yu have leaking parts that you must regularly check those fluid levels. Them leaking wont cause major damage, but you not keeping the fluid levels up will. I had a tranny leask in my van for a 1 1/2 and thought it was a expensive fix, but I ended up fixing my leak for about 6 bucks. My point is, check your fluids once a day if not more depending on the severity of the leak.

SOURCE: Power steering fluid leaking.

Year and mileage? Keep the fluid level up so you don't damage the power steering pump, and return to the garage that serviced it. This sounds like something wasn't tightened properly, and they should correct the problem. It is possible that a power steering hose or the pump itself developed a leak, but, it is most likely something that wasn't tightened properly. That's the best diagnosis that can be given w/out actually being able to see the vehicle.

SOURCE: 2001 Jetta VR6, 76k miles. Transmission fluid leaking.

Auto or Std trans??

If auto here's the issue...

Keep in mind Auto transmissions don't like to be run dry.

Also keep in mind that the 01M Automatic you most likely have retails for like $4000 just for the unit, not installation.

The corner trans guy can't rebuild the trans. This is a special unit

Just to check the fluid-

Hook up a Laptop with Vag.Com software installed.

Start the car and go into the transmissions data blocks and go to block 005, this will display fluid temp.

-ATF temperature not above approx. 30C (86F)
-Vehicle level
-Selector lever in "P"
-If ATF is below 30C (86F) bring the ATF up to test temperature.
Test temperature: 35C to 45 (95 to 113F)
-Remove ATF level plug from oil pan.

CHECKING PHYSICAL QUANTITY

If ATF drips out of hole:
ATF need not be topped up.
-Install new seal on plug and tighten to 15 Nm11 ft lb).
ATF check is completed.

If ATF does not drip out
-Remove plug from filler line.
-Fill with VW ATF (G 052 162 A2) until ATF runs out of level hole
-Install new seal on plug and tighten to 15 Nm (11 ft lb).
ATF check is completed.

CAUTION!
Too little or too much ATF will adversely affect transmission function.

Leak oil from engine 2007 Toyota corolla

Put card board or news paper under you car. Leave it over night. You first want to determine if you are leaking engine oil...Transmission fluid or Anti freeze...or power steering fluid also.
Check all of your dip stick levels and read your owners manual...it is always vital in finding leaks and types of fluid you maybe leaking. OIL is dark....Transmission is red and some power steering fluids are more clear/cleaner. Also Anti freeze is a greenish color and smells sweet like freshely cut wood chips. GOOD luck..always start with the basics.. One drop of fluid on news paper can make it swell up to about the size of a 50 cent piece.

Red fluid dripping from bottom of car, is comming from a black cover (maybe transmision oil?)

Red fluid it auto matic transmission fluid. The black cover is the bottom of the transmission where the transmission filter is. Most of the time.. unless you recently had the transmission filter changed is inthe hose area where the hoses fromthe radiator connect to the transmission.

It is still quite possible for your transmission pan gasket to be leaking. Most of the time people think that by just tightening up the bolts that they fix the leak when in fact the over torque the boltrs and it leaks even more. If the transmission pan gasket is leaking buy a new gasket making sure the bolts are tightened per the manufactures torques.

Leaking oil from the crankshaft seal on a 2001 Toyota Camery 4 cylinder 2.2 liter.

Ok you have to disassemble the front of the engine, remove time belt, remove crankshaft sprocket, I warn you in these engines often is the oil leak by the seal of the oil pump, so I recommend you change the seal the pump and the camshaft and thus warrant you. Thanks good luck comments

I have a 99 Toyota Camry . I went to walmart for oil chnage and they have told me your transmission is leaking. What needs to be done to stop this leaking and how much expensive it is

Can't say how much to repair without knowing exactly what's leaking. If it's leaking from around the transmission pan, it's a matter of replacing the gasket which is included in the price of having the transmission fluid changed. If it's a transmission line, it all depends on the location and how difficult it is to get at the line.

Check engine light tranny temp light, and o/d light

where the transmission and transfer case meet there is a weep hole, check for leakage out that hole...if it shows a leak you probably have a rear transmission seal leaking. if there is any sealer around where they meet someone tried to stop the leak without properly repairing it.
