I have been getting an evap system leak (code) I had my engine smoked yesterday nothing was found. My service engine soon light has been on as well. I also had my battery changed and now i have two more codes coming up as well PO496 and PO171. I dont know what the evap leak code is.
Code p 0496 refers to evaporative emission (EVAP) system---high purge flow===causes ---wiring --EVAP valve---mechanical fault
code p 0171system too lean bank 1===causes --intake / exhaust leak---AIr system---MAF/VAF sensor--fuel pressure too low/---pump--injectors ---Heated oxygen sensor (HO2S)
with the first code it could be a faulty vent valve or solenoid
with the second code , it is probably a faulty HO2S unit ( the one in the exhaust manifold before the cat converter)

CHECK THE LARGE BLACK CANNISTER AND CHECK THE HOSES CONNECTED TO IT. GOOD LUCK!

Fault with the IAC valve.there maybe a trouble code associated with it also./ Go to your nearby autozone or auto parts retailer and ask them to put a scanner to the car....make note of the codes if any are found. the IAC valve i usually locate don the throttle body and can be removed for inspection and sometimes cleaning using a good throttle body cleaner spray and a pipe cleaner brush.

you may have to drive it several days for the light to go off, or have the codes cleared. personally I would just drive it. if the computer tests it, and it passes the test, it will go off on its own.

2 quick fix things to try for EVAP sys.the gas cap as you said and
the pcv valve I would change the oil too
as for the trans a fluid + filter change after sitting so long would be my
first move

Did you get gas shortly before the light came on? It's not uncommon for a loose gas cap to set this code. Take the cap off and look at the seal. If it's cracked replace it with a new OEM cap. If not, reinstall it and make sure it's on all the way. Then you can clear the code and see if it comes back.
Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System Large Leak Detected
Possible Causes:
A fuel fill cap that is left OFF after a fuel fill will cause this DTC to set.A loose, missing, or damaged fuel fill cap can cause this DTC to set.A blockage or restriction in the EVAP purge solenoid, purge pipe EVAP canister, or vapor pipe, can cause this DTC to set.A temporary blockage in the EVAP purge solenoid, purge pipe, or EVAP canister could cause an intermittent condition. Inspect and repair any restriction in the EVAP system.To help locate intermittent leaks, use the J 41413-200 to introduce smoke into the EVAP system. Move all EVAP components while observing smoke with the J 41413-SPT .To improve the visibility of the smoke exiting the EVAP system, observe the suspected leak area from different angles with the J 41413-SPT .Observe the Freeze Frame/Failure Records vehicle mileage since the diagnostic test last failed may help determine how often the condition occurs that caused the DTC to set . This may assist in diagnosing the condition.
