Question about 2004 Nissan Sentra
Why does my o5 nissan sentra chirp when i start it. it usually doesnt start on the first try and when it does start it gives off a loud high pitched chirp like noise. could this be my timing belt or my starter?
You probably have the same issue as many Sentra owners- bleed off of fuel pressure. This would cause a hard starting condition when the vehicle sits overnight. See TSB# NTB05-052a for the procedure. This is a dealer-only repair (parts are not available aftermarket).
As for the squeal, I've seen a LOT of this- the belts on these vehicles are less than excellent quality. The belts might look fine and some mechanics will say that they don't need to be replaced, but they are noisy and they can't be quieted up even by overtensioning them. Replacement is the only repair. Aftermarket belts can also be very noisy, so I would suggest Original Equipment (Nissan) belts.
Hope this is helpful!!!
