I got 1994 toyota andf it stall when i turn on anything like blinkers or headlight and when i put it in gear. Its a five speeed v-6 but it starts right up and idles but if i hit brake it sounds likeit

ok , i guess you are saying the engine stalls when I use heavy electrical loads (like head lamps or brakes or even blinkers)
and when you shift from park to drive.
ok , if the engine RPM is 800 before the stall, then that is a total loss
of engine power with lost of idle controls.

The big load is in DRIVE on automatics huge going to DRIVE.

if battery voltage (yes, a 10 buck walfart meter works) can see 13.3 to 15vdc idling at 800 or more RPm.
the Alternator does not work below 800 so , dont expect it to.

so, if rpm in park is below 800 then we fix that first, see why?
if idle drops below 800 this is caused buy many things.
one vital fact missing is you didnt say, if I drive it like a stole it.
that is aggressive right foot. , do you have full engine power, now?
ignoring stalls. (see my drift there, "is engine power good;?)

battery volts above 13.3vdc.
idle at 800 and stalls in DRIVE (shifted)
  • low fuel pressure.
  • never ever tuned up this decade, with all spark parts bad.
  • ISC stuck( idle speed controller (it lets in more air , in DRIVE)
  • low engine compression.
  • other complex ,fueling issues, (ask) and lots of tests. (ask)
if no tachmeter in car or tool box, repairs get dicey.
hard,
it takes tools to diagnose and fix cars.
go tools? or willing to buy them
if not,? get it serviced.

Why does my truck die when i turn on my headlights? It starts up and idles until i turn on headlights or hit breaks it dies>.

It sounds like you have a weak or bad battery. Check with a DVOM and see if you have a reading of between 13.7 and 14.3 with it running. If you do, then your alternator is ok and I would suspect the battery if all connections are good.

" HI " Where is the Voltage Regulator Located on a 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T 3.0

The way to check for an over or under charge is to connect your volt meter to the battery, before starting the vehicle.
You should have a reading of 12.5 to 13 volts. If it's 11.8 like you stated or less, it means battery is not fully charged, or it's bad. Now start the car & check voltage again while running the engine, the voltage should exceed 14+ volts, this means your Alternator is charging, the voltage should drop after battery has been charging for awhile. When you turn the engine off after letting it charge the battery, & if the battery is good, you should now have 12.5 volts to 13 volts.
Now to answer your question, the Voltage Regulator is inside of the Altenator, I believe you xcan take the alternator apart to replace it, or simpler to just replace the complete alternator.

Battery wont charge, battery/ABS/SRS/BRAKE lights come on while driving and flicker. voltage increases to dash lights/fan speed/headlights periodically.

Get a volt meter, start your car and see how many volts your car is producing while running. Should be around 14 volts. May want to watch the meter for a while since your electric seems to fluctuate. Most voltage regulators are internal of your alternator. If you are getting a lot more or less than 14 volts while running, replace the alternator. If it is not charging, voltage will drop as vehicle runs, until battery is dead.

Had car jumped, now it stalls when the air conditioner is turned on. alternator read ok. also changed battery but speedometer didn't work after jumpstart, it works with the new battery, but still

There is an idle speed control motor on the side of the car's throttle body that is supposed to keep the idle stable even when additional loads like the AC are on. It's possible the motor may be damaged due to a voltage spike when you had it jumped. It's also possible the AC system may be pulling the engine speed down due to an internal problem with a faulty AC compressor.
Did the shop that checked the charging system check to make sure alternator was charging properly with the additional loads of the AC, headlights and blower motor on? It's very possible the system is overloading a weak alternator.

Hello, I have a 1989 dodge dakota sport and I have some kind of electrical problem. I start the vehicle runs fine till I turn the headlights on, and then it immediately stalls out. I turn the lights off...

hi,, the headlights are connected to the alternator, when you turn them on, it drains the power out so the alternator doesnt push enough or drains power from the eletrical system. Have the diodes in your alternator checked, power checked (loads on and off), replace alternator if necessary.

*any mechanic or battery shop can do this)..

voltage loads off 13.5 - 14.2
loads on 13.2 - 14.2

lower or higher is bad..

Everytime I hit the brakes the rpms drops almost to the point of stalling the car..Is it my alternator

On the surface, it seems you have an issue with the TPS (throttle position sensor) which regulates idling speeds accordingly for when the engine is cold, warm, or if the AC is in operation. A quick do-it-yourself test (not very scientific but a good indicator of a bad alternator) is to start the car and after it warms up, turn on all accessories (headlights, RW defroster, etc). If the car does not decrease in RPM's or if there's no dropoff in the brightness of the headlights, the alternator is fine. You can also get a free electrical test at most chain autoparts stores (Autozone etc) to rule out an alternator problem.
Most cars that have stalling problems when the car is warm can trace those problems back to the TPS.

Ok, I just got a new battery and coil ignition bwd.I also had my alternator re-built about 2 weeks ago,but my battery light still pops on when i turn the headlights on!my belts seem to be tight enuf. is it...

if you have a multi meter,
check voltage at battery with car running, should be at least 13-14 volts,
now turn on fan motor to high, flashers on,radio on, and check voltage at battery, regulator should have adjusted voltage to handle the load, should still be 13-14 volts,
now turn all that stuff off,and turn on headlights and recheck battery voltage,if below 13-14 volts replace regulator,if voltage is spiking higher than 14volts replace regulator.you do not need other belts.

Sounds like you got a bad rebuilt alternator. I'd bring it back to where you got it from and if they have a way of bench testing it, then have them do that or just replace it.

I wou the alternator output checked, and the tension of the belt checked also. It seems that you do not have enough voltage in the electrical system. A bad alternator will give you exactly what you are experiencing.
