Question about Volkswagen Golf
I had it remapped this year, (apparently 190bhp so they said), so i then put it on the rolling road to find out that it was putting out 132bhp thus finding out it has a boost problem. since this ive had it on v.a.g.com to find that it needs a mass air flow sensor and a lambda sensor, fitted these an now it has become very hesitant,hard to start from cold,exhaust smells and revs high when idling,using lots of fuel aswell. please help or any ideas its really annoying me now !

I HAVE THE EXACT PROBLEM!!! OK.. SO FINALLY AFTER A MONTH OF TRIAL AN ERROR.. I REPLACED THE COOLANT TEMP. SENSOR AND SERIOUSLY.. ALLLLL THE PROBLEMS WENT AWAY AND MY SYMPTOMS WERE IDENTICAL TO ALL 3 OF THE PEOPLE REPORTING THIS SAME PROB. ITS A $7.00 PART SO GRAB IT AND CHANGE IT.. IT IS VERY EASY TO SWITCH OUT AND I BET YOUR CAR RUNS AWESOME AGAIN :) GOODLUCK!! -MANDEY

undo centre wheel hub nut 30mm/32mm, socket. undo lower wish-bone outer bolts, disconect battery,/remove starter motor,/remove transmission mounting bolts to body frame ,/ remove all surrounding bolts around bell housing transmission,/ remove clutch cable from transmission,/ remove drive shafts from centre hub and transmission,/ make sure car is standing on axle stands at front of jacking points,/use a trolley jack to suport engine sump with a piece of wood,/ slide transmission away from flywheel,/lower transmision on floor,/undo all clutch plate preasure bolts 10mm,/remove thrust bearing located on centre transmision shaft ,.also make sure if fitted speedo cable needs to be removed.new clutch plate should indicate flywheel ,without fitting clutch plate wrong way round/otherwise transmision will not bolt to engine block.,

I had a VW rabbit that developed mad electrical problems. It started when one day the headlights remained on and would not shut off. It turned out that a $2.00 gasket for the antenna wire had failed. This allowed road water from the wheel well to leak onto the fuse box. In time the fuse panel corroded and shorted out. I had to replace the fuse box twice and use rubber epoxy to seal the leak.
Check all fuses and electrical wiring for signs of shorts or corrosion.
