Air bag light on the dashboard - 2000 Volkswagen Bora

Sounds like a flaky connection to the air bag module. WITH THE VEHICLE OFF (so that you do not trigger the air bag accidentally), check all connections at the steering column, the air bag module under the dashboard, and the air bag inertial sensor behind the front grille. (Wouldn't hurt to squirt a bit of penetrating oil into the connectors to help eliminate corrosion.
That being said, your local Chevy dealership will likely check the problem for free, since it's a safety equipment issue.

Depending upon which "airbag light" you see, it's one of two things:

1. If you are seeing the yellow AIRBAG light on your dashboard, it means that your airbag system is not operating properly, and should be serviced IMMEDIATELY, because it will not protect you in the event of a collision;
2. If you are seeing the light in the middle of the dashboard that says "PASS. AIR BAG OFF," it means that you have disabled the passenger air bag, and it will not deploy in the event of an accident. Follow the directions in your User Manual.

if the air bag light is on this means there is a fault with one of the air bags and it will need to be read by a obd reader to find out the problem and which air bag it is. this is the same for all cars and any vehicle with air bags. you must get this scene to as a faulty air bag can go off while you are driving and can make you have an accident.

Whenever this warning light or any other stays on in the dash it is indicating that the systems control module (or the system sensor in the case of lights like low oil pressure, door open indicators etc.) has detected a fault, it then disables the system (this applies to ABS,TCS, TCM, SRS and BCM faults and others) as long as the light is on. You must now have the dealer hook up a special electronic diagnostic tool and "scan" the system for the fault code that is stored for the problem(s)

The airbag light on the dashboard comes for few reasons, either there is a bad connection or connection came loose but than the light would stay on at all times, if it comes periodically than I would look up to the owner's manual and also find the airbag check label inside the car as it might be faulty or in need of replacement. The danger is that if it is faulty it can blow up by itself or in case of accident (hope none happens) it will malfunction.

do you whant to disable the air bags or the air bag light on the dashboard?? if you want to disable the air bag mecanism you just have to take the fuse out of the fuse box under the dash or under the hood near the battery.

The air bag computer will have to be scanned and the code read to know what the fault the computer detects. The problem will have to be repaired for the light to shut off. Keep in mind, when the air bag light is illuminated the air bag system is deactivated. Meaning, in the event of a collision the bags won't deploy.

try disconeting battery for 30 mins some times resets

well the check guages and airbag lights are most likely not related, the airbag is most likely the clockspring contact under the steering wheel is defective, check guages means you have a gauge that is reading a problem like low oil pressure or overheating, this can be the body control module causing this as well..

I had the same problem. My 2008 Passat had to get a faulty rotator that controls the electrical part of the dashboard on the car.First the Air Fault light came on then my whole dashboard went out the next day. I had no horn, no radio, no lights on at all on the dashboard. It was that rotator part that controls the electrics. I was told they are faulty after a few months, they ordered a new one, installed and my car is good as new.
