Question about 2003 Ford Focus

2003 Ford Focus will not start.

The car just makes a clicking noise. The check engine light is on. All the lights come on but dont' stay on.

Sounds like a dead battery, replce the battery, or jump start the car. after get someone who knows a little about cars to look at your alternator. if you have a checker or auto zone this is a free service..

u should check for a coolant leak just above the starting motor, it makes its way into the motor gumming every thing up ,coolant leak is usually from the thermostat housing.

could be the belt tensioner is bad. That will loosen the belt so the car battery goes weak and will make a bad noise. Could have gotten a defective alternator.

check your battery for cold crank AMPS if battery is fine check positiv cabel from battery to alternator they are common problem on this vehicles

you have a defective courtesy light switch that is causing the relay to open and close, that is the clicking u hear, this flashes the courtesy/interior lights on and off.

Ford Focus Engine Light


Start by getting either a mechanic or someone with an OBDII scanner to read the code so you know where to start. Lots of time a loose gas cap will cause a "Evap system small leak" code which illuminates the check engine light for a while. Other than that I can't help you much without knowing what code comes up.

These are classic symptoms of an O2 sensor.Go to autozone and ask them to read the engine code. They will tell you what is wrong more conclusively.
