Are you able to remove the hold down that is bolted to the battery tray. It is a long bolt that has a plastic block at the bottom that compresses against the bottom of the battery and pushes it against the opposite side of the battery tray. It has a 8MM head and is the onlhy thing other than the cables that holds the battery in place. The OEM bolt is located on the drivers side of the car.
If you meant you cant physically get the battery out I understand. It is relatively tight in the battery box itself. Good luck and I hope this helps.

I took the bolt out and removed the wedge shaped block that you describe; the cables are detached completely. I've tried to manfully, shift the battery in the tray. It won't budge even a millimeter. If it moves, I can lift it. No dice. ables a

How do you replace battery in Oldsmobile ciera cutlas 1999

Undo the straps securing the battery.

The complicated bit. To save problems with cutting power to your radio and the ECM, you need to maintain power as you change the batteries over. Place the new battery on the side of the engine bay, in the right attitude to drop it into place. Take two pieces of insulated wire and twist it around the bottom of the terminals on the new battery, and the other end to the clamps on the old battery.

Remove the clamps on the old battery, and place it on the other side of the engine bay. Put the new battery into place. Put the clamps onto the new battery and slide them down. Tighten them loosely. Remove the wires from the bottom of the terminal and tap the clamps down and fully tighten.

Replace the holding strap.

Car has been sitting in garage for past 10 years, on blocks. what do you recommend before trying to start? it needs new battery.

you need drain fuel tank.fuel tank probably need to be removed and cleaned out to remove all sediment in bottom of fuel tank.remove each sparks and label them.squirt some clean engine oil down the spark holes into cylinder bores to help lubricate cylinder walls and help seal the piston rings to build up compression.replace fuel filter.best to change spark plugs and wires.check all brake hoses they more likely old cracked. i would change brake fluid bleed out all the old brake fluid out of the brake system.also change power steering fluid and change transmission fluid and filter also change engine oil and oil filter.replace the antifreeze and all the coolant hoses and radiator hose.replace thermostat and radiator pressure cap.replace battery and add new full tank of gas.you should be ready go. check ignition timing also.

Need to change the battery in a 2003 Chevy Impala. How do I do this? take out and replace? thank you.

Yes you simply take the old one out and install the new one. Or you can, drive to your local Advance Auto Parts and purchase a new battery. They will remove the old battery and install the new one free of charge. Other Auto Parts Stores may do the same.

Need to get cables off battery so i can change it

Then get the proper socket if it is a side terminal battery and disconnect the cables. Do not use anything but a socket. If it is top terminal then you can use a boxed end wrench. Clean the connections and remove the old battery and buy a replacement. Install the new battery and connect the cables back up.

I want to replace my old battery, but haven't got

Put a pair of jumper cables on the battery terminals and connect it to another vehicle. When you remove the battery the other vehicle will power your memory and electrical system as a surrogate while you perform the swap.

How do i change the battery

First you need the proper replacement battery. Be sure it will physically fit, and the + and - posts are in the same location as the original.

Remove the - (black) cable first, then the + (red). Undo the battery hold down and remove the old battery. Place new battery in tray, install hold down hardware. Check battery cable connectors to be sure they are clean. Use a wire brush or battery terminal cleaner brush (any auto parts store, a few bucks) to clean off any corrosion. Connect + (red) battery cable, then - (black) cable. Tighten cable clamps.

How to change a altornator on a 95 nissan maxima

first you need to release the belt tensioner, and remove the belt. Disconnect the battery, and remove electrical plug on aternator. Then simply unbolt the old alternator, bolt in the new one, re-attach the the electrical plug, connect the battery back up, and re-install the belt. FYI this would be a good time to replace the serpentine belt.

Haven a hard time changing my low beam for my 2004 tdi vw jetta

This should not be very difficult. Remove the back cover of the light. Twist the old bulb and pull out. Remove plug. plug new one in and twist into place. Replace cover.

The battery side is a very tight squeeze, you may need to remove the battery. But, I was able to do it by just taking off the battery cover.

Replacing battery

You need to remove the plastice shield, (3 plastic screws into core support, 1 screw to air filter housing). Under that you will see the battery hold down. Remove the one 12mm bolt and replace battery.
