Broke timing chain in a 3.8 1995 mustang

I just bought a 1995 mustang with a 3.8 manual transmision for $450.00. It was taken to a mechanic before i bought it and i was told that it is just the timing chain and the compression is still fine. I have friends telling me i shouldnt have bought it because if the chain broke it needs a new engine and its a piece of junk. is this true or is it possible that the engine is ok and just needs the timning chain replaced and it will be fine? I am getting the timing chain replaced for $150 plus parts by the guy i am buying it from.

The timing chain is not a cause for whole engine replacement. If the guy is willing to do it for 150 plus parts and guarentee's it to run right afterwards Id say go for it. 150 Plus parts is a good deal for something like this.

Sincerely,

JC

I need the markings for a timing chain of a audi a4 1.8 tfsi b8 2009 to install

I don't understand, are you doing a timing belt on a 4cyl or a timing chain on a v6 ether one it's a job you provably want to have done for a profecional mechanic that have the manuals and tools for this job don't even try

Replaced fuel pump now timing chain is broken. is that normal?

Sounds like bad luck...changing the fuel pump will have not have an adverse effect on the timing chain. Although timing chains are are way more reliable than timing belts, they still do break. Scott

Does the engine of a 2001 oldsmobile aurora 4.0 have to be pulled to replace the timing chain

No you do not need to replace pull the engine. Replacing this chain takes many special tools, I would suggest if you can afford it to avoid trying to do this at home, it is a very difficult job even for a professioanl. You will need a factory service manual to get all set up right.

I HAVE A 65 MUSTANG WITH AN ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP AND I DO NOT LIKE IT BECAUSE IS TO NOISY, CAN I REPLACE IT WITH A MECHANICAL ONE?

YES if you have an early front cover on timing chain, and eccentric cam . The fuel pump on early cars ran off the cam shaft. IF this is a late model engine and fuel injection... the answer would be no.

Timing Chain

If the car is driveable, your timing chain hasn't broken into pieces. If it had, your car wouldn't run, period. Something else has caused whatever issues you have - what is the car doing that suggests a problem?

I have a 91 nissan stanza 2.4 and the timing chain broke. I do not know if you need to drop the motor if yes how do i do it. I have done mechanic work on other car but they were american made and back in...

It is probably not the timing chain but the tensioner and guides. The guides are some bakelite plastic ****. you need to take off a lot stuff, belts power steering, altenator pulleys timing case cover. Check the timing gears and chain for damage. Replace guides tensioner and any damaged parts. Disconnecting the front motor mounts you have raise and lower the front of engine with a hoist to gain access to the timing case. A long tedious job and hopefully your valves weren't damaged when the chain let loose if so the whole thing is just not worth it
