Question about 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

Im thinking transmission

When I put my Trailblazer in reverse it whines, but will not move. It will go in forward, just not reverse. If its a transmission problem, can I fix it myself? I usually do all my own work to my autos, but never did a transmission.

My 2002 4WD trailblazer shifts through all gears except reverse. It squeels when I shift to reverse but it doesn't move. Am I screwed or might there be an easier (less expensive) solution than a replacement transmission?

Have you checked your fluid level in your transmission when it is warmed up? Sometimes if they get low they will act up in this way.If it is low top it up,and see if that helps also if low never drive it if you do not need to this could severly damage the transmission and cause you more problems

I had the same problem, all forward gears worked well but when in reverse you had to press on gas ,as if it was in hand brake,Today I changed the filter and oil,it is working fine now.

I have a 2003 chevy trailblazer and my transmission cooler line came off leaking all my fluid fixed. The line put fluid back in now i can go forward but won't reverse can i get an answer

your transmission is shot man. you can take it to be rebuilt but thet will be expensive. if you can ;ive without reverse you can keep it for awhile but eventually you will start loosing your forward gears.

What can be wrong with my truck transmission?

I would guess the torque convertor has failed and you need it replaced

2004 chev trailblazer the truck want move when in drive but go in reverse and low 2

It could be the clutches or bad seals in the transmission. Most likely seals, since you can get forward gears, when manually putting it in a certain gear. Also it could be solenoids. Have the codes read.

Why would a vehicle in reverse move forward

The question is a little vague but I think I know what your referring to. All modern automatic transmissions have torque converters. This is the device that connects the engine to the transmission. All vehicle manufacturers like the trans to be nice and smooth shifting. That's great but it does come with some minor drawbacks. If you are facing slightly down hill and you put your car in reverse but do not step on the gas slightly I can guarantee that you will indeed roll forward. You can eliminate that issue by holding your left foot on the brake while you shift into reverse. Then, as soon as you feel the trans engage, gently depress the gas pedal with your right foot and it will eliminate that forward roll problem.

My Chevy trailblazer says its in reverse but moves like it is in neutral. The press button on the shifter will not depress to move it into any other gear

im not to familar with trailblazers but to me it sounds like it could be onw of two problems the first thing im thinking is the transmission cable it may be to lose not alowing you two shift it properly or it may be the center console itself but i would check the trans cable first try tightning it but be careful they brake pretty easy

2002 Chevy SC1 1500. 64,000 miles. Went to put in reverse, engine made a clunk sound and then whined. Now reverse will not work but just whines when put in that gear. Drive works normally. Any ideas?

Are you sure you have all the forward gears?(4speeds ,three shifts)This is a common problem with this transmission and it is almost always a broken reaction shell. The shell brakes due to a diagnostic code setting and putting the trans into a high pressure setting and braking the shell. It is possible that you have a problem n the reverse input clutches but this is rare.Eithe rway the transmission will need to be removed and diasssembled.Good luck and let me know if I can help.

My 2000 Buick LeSabre whines and will not shift into any forward gears. It also has a very loud whining noise. Car starts fine and I am able to put the car in to reverse. Once I put the car in Drive it...

it does sound like the transmission has packed it in. you might be able to find a decent used one via a wrecking yard and get a local mechanic to install it.
try to find one out of a car with under 100K miles on it.

Transmission problem with reverse

the reverse clutch has failed in the transmission, this will require the trans be torn down for repair.

While driving truck makes a humming sound in drive now no reverse

If you have no reverse then yes it needs to be rebuilt. as far as the whining it could be in one of the differentials. or in trans? just depends on where you hear it
