Question about 2004 Ford Freestar

Reverse sensing system switch

When put into reverse, the switch automatically turns off.  In the owners manual it states that it defaults to on.  Checked the fuse, and is ok.
It was working no problem, and one day it just stopped working correctly. No damage to bumper or any accidents.

Thanks warlock61.  I will check the connections on the sensors and report back.

How do you check the connections on the sensors. Do the sensors pop off the bumper or do you need to remove the bumper skin?

Changed the transmission fluid on my automatic, not vehicle wont go into reverse.

Are you sure you put the correct amount in? Sounds like when it's cold the fluid settles on the bottom. But when it warms up, the fluid starts to travel and not be enough to lube and cool the gears. Check you owners manual or compare what you took out with the amount you put in.

I just failed my N.J. state inspection for the following reason. Can you help? The white back-up lights stay on at all times. I checked the b/u light fuse and found it to be good. Any ideas what I can...

The transmission switch that powers the reverse light switches is stuck in the ON position, this is quite a common fault.
The switch is mounted on the transmission casing near where the selector rods enter the casing on a manual shift and in the selector housing on automatic cars.

HOW DO YOU TURN OFF THE REAR PARK AID?

Page 88 of your owners manual....

Reverse Sensing System (Park assist) (if equipped)
This feature sounds a warning tone to warn the driver of obstacles near
the rear bumper, and functions only when R (Reverse) gear is selected.
1. Select this function from the
SETUP menu to disable the reverse
sensing system feature.
2. Press the RESET control to turn
the rear park assist OFF. When R
(Reverse) gear is selected, PARK AID OFF will be displayed.

Where do I find the reverse light and reverse sensor fuse on the Hyundai IMAX, the owners manual and fuse covers do not state it anywhere. My reverse lights and the sensor suddenly stopped working.

Hi Ali
I don't think it's a sensor. Usually a switch!
Another avenue you could try is
The switch.
Possibly On the side of the gearbox or transmission.
If it's under the car this gets damaged by junk hitting the switch
or wiring to the switch

Why did my car stall when in reverse gear?

I need a little more info. I presume it is automatic, not a manual trans. Was it multiple times that it stalled when you shifted to reverse? or just 1 time. Is the check engine light on, and/or the D4 light flashing?

Reverse light will not work

Obviously check bulbs and fuses, if ok, suspect faulty reverse light switch on trans if its a manual, or gear select switch if automatic.

Motion sensor

No, the rear sensing system won't signal if you are in any gear except reverse. The wiring for the module is connected so that it turns on when you put the car in reverse. (This assumes the sensors haven't failed. If they are dirty, they can sometimes signal when an object isn't there.) Some newer cars have blind spot monitors that indicate an object approaching from behind and to the side; these don't indicate an object directly behind the car.

I hope this helps.

Hello, I went outside yesterday to leave for work and when i put my 1992 toyota camry in reverse it was not doing so... we had to push it out of the driveway so I could drive... every other gear is...

Is it manual trance-mission or automatic. If it is manual you have to check shifting leaver system & gear selector unit. If it is automatic check selector switch, wiring harness & valve body.

Check the reverse switch that's located on the side of the transmission as that may have failed. It'll have 3 wires coming out of it

REVERSE LIGHT DO NOT WORK

Quite frankly I'm a GM guy, but after reading your question, to me a 3-4-or 5 spd , Below that shifter is a switch to indicate when the shifter is put into the reverse gate. Test its continuity and replace. Later model std's have switches on the trans. Hope this helps
