not anymore than any other front wheel drive car. are you having a noise(clicking or clunking) coming from the front only when turning. if so then you have a bad cv joint on the axle. its cheaper to replace the entire halfshaft(axle) than just the bad joint, as you get a rebuilt halfshaft complete. if you hear the noise when turning left then the left halfshaft is bad if you hear it only when you turn right then the right side is bad. you don`t say what issue you are having.
pull break pads. put car in nuteral, spin wheel listen for sound, keep in mind both wheels must be off ground. If hear sound figure out if it is in traning or wheel. do not hit breaks while pads are off will damage break system. if no sound look at break system.
does it get louder above 45-60mph? and much quieter at low speeds. It could be wheel bearings, a rear differential or front differential. If its a grinding humming noise its wheel bearings, listenin to see if theyre coming from the front or rear, left or right, or both when your driving to know what wheel bearing are bad. If its a whinning noise, its probably a differential. check and listen to hear if its coming from the front or rear. Also, check for loose plastic around the wheels. Lastly check your tires for uneven or choppy wear. move your hands front to back on the top of the tire. does it feel really choppy and rough, maybe you just need new tires
This sounds very familra, the problem sounds like a bad wheel bearing, the hard part is locating the bad one, you will need to drive it and try to locate if its in the front or rear. the most common is the front, you can try and jack up the front of the car with both front wheels off the ground and grab each wheel top and bottom and see if there are loose when you try to move it, sometimes a bad wheel bearing wheel have looseness to it and sometimes not. if the wheel is not loose then the next step would be to run the front wheels in drive wheels off the ground and listen for the loud wheel and that will be the bad one, to replace it you will need to remove the wheel then the brake caliper and the rotor. next locate the three bolts in the rear and remove them, next remove the center axle nut on the front of the wheel for the axle. next unplug connector to abs if car has abs, next hammer hub off spindle, it may be frozen on so beat the top and bottom to free it, then remove it and install new one. heres a few diagram to help you out, hope this is helpful, good day.
if you hear that clicking noise whether going forward or backward,,it's most likely a bad cv joint on your axle going bad,,or bad. you'll need to replace the axle it's coming from. just have someone listen to the noise while you're going forward or backwards while turning the wheel in motion to determine which axle is bad! hope this helps!!
i would suspect bad driveshaft hanger bearing - to confirm, jack up back end of truck and hold up with jack stands. have someone in the truck to accelerate to the speed where you hear the noise, listen for the noise - a stethescope is very useful for this. good luck!
lift the rear axle off the ground and spin the wheels around as fast as you can. if the bearings are bad you will hear it if the sound changes as it spins. If it a scratching noise that will be from the disc brake pads
This could be one of several problems: If the noise increases with speed, and you are only hearing it from the rear differential and not the transmission, it could be the rear differential carrier bearings, or rear axle bearings going bad. If you are only hearing the noise upon acceleration or deceleration, the rear differential ring and/or pinion gears may be going bad and the rear differential will need an overhaul. You'll have to get the rear wheels off the ground and see if you can pinpoint the location of the noise with something such as a stethoscope. If it's coming from the rear differential, you'll need to pull the bolts and the cover to determine if the gears are still in good shape, or if there is any pitting. Same with the carrier bearings; if you see pitting/ discoloration, they'll need replacement. If the noise is coming from one side towards the end of the axle shaft near the wheel, it's most likely a axle bearing going bad, and you'll need to pull the wheels, remove the diff. cover to release the C clip which holds the rear axle in place at the differential, and pull the axle out. You also need a special tool with a slide hammer to remove the axle bearing and seal.
Jack up the front end and put stands under it and block rear wheels. Look at axle boots and see if they are cracked. Try turning wheel back and forth sharply and see if you can hear any clicking. Problem could be outer axle joints. If the boots are cracked or you hear a clicking noise you will have to replace the axle. The axle and boot come as a complete unit.
