Question about 2000 Ford F250 Super Duty Crew Cabs

2000 F250 7.3L T.Diesel leaks fuel from under filter + no a/c

Only noticable when cold and running heat. Fumes get pretty thick in cab when stopped. Can't figure out exactly where/what is leaking. Saw another posting about valve replacement..? Also, A/C blows hot, pressure is correct, compressor turns on for 2 seconds and turns off. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You got it, my man! That part seems to be a running joke for Ford. The guy who got it for me says "we're selling a ton of them." Thanks for the help.

Yes directly in the rear of the fuel filter housing there is a yellow valve that is used to drain the fuel/pressure from the filter housing. I personally have replace several of them. They are a little pricey at around $60.00 but includes new o-rings. What will happen is if the valve goes bad it will dump fuel on the p.side next to the engine block, as there is a steel line that hooks to the rubber adapter to the valve. With it running you should be able to see it very easily. If your leak isn't located there, the rubber hose may have come lose from the valve and be dumping fuel into valve of the engine and possibley onto the turbocharger. I would check there first, and if not i would check the fuel filter housing its self. There is an o-ring at the top that could have possibley detoriated or been pinched. Have you had this housing apart recently? Also another mistake in maintenance of the 7.3Ls is the over tightening of the plastic cap for the filter. Let me know how you make out, and we can diagnois farther.

Fuel smell inside car when using heater especially on a cold day or when stopping the car

This is a somewhat common problem on Nissan products.
The V6 engine has several small rubber hoses connecting the fuel lines, and when it is cold weather the hoses leak fuel.
The heater - defroster picks up the fumes from the outside vent under the windshield. When you are moving the fumes flow under the van.
If you can find the leak sometimes you can just tighten up a clamp or two.

I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1/2 ton. I smell antifreeze in the cab when it is running. I haven't noticed any leaking on the floorboard or any fogging on the windshield. Any suggestions as to what it...

Yes your in the right area, it should be up under passenger side behind housing etc., where blower motor is located. If you haven't noticed coolant return bottle level going down then I would have the cooling system pressure tested to see if it drops, indicating a leak somewhere. Also check all your hoses and connections especially near firewall where they go in to vehicle, in case there is a small leak at fitting or hose and the fumes from it are being drawn in through fresh air intake under cowl at base of windshield. It might just be an external leak, and fumes are being drawn into cab.

Diesel fumes in cab, '03 f250

If its raw fuel fumes check for fuel leaks on top of the motor. If its exhaust fumes you probably have an exhaust leak on the cross pipe at the rear of motor over the transmission. Take a telescoping mirror and flash light have a look. Might even slide under neath and take a peak as well. Make sure wheels are chocked with something first.
