Question about 2000 Ford F250 Super Duty Crew Cabs
Only noticable when cold and running heat. Fumes get pretty thick in cab when stopped. Can't figure out exactly where/what is leaking. Saw another posting about valve replacement..? Also, A/C blows hot, pressure is correct, compressor turns on for 2 seconds and turns off. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Yes directly in the rear of the fuel filter housing there is a yellow valve that is used to drain the fuel/pressure from the filter housing. I personally have replace several of them. They are a little pricey at around $60.00 but includes new o-rings. What will happen is if the valve goes bad it will dump fuel on the p.side next to the engine block, as there is a steel line that hooks to the rubber adapter to the valve. With it running you should be able to see it very easily. If your leak isn't located there, the rubber hose may have come lose from the valve and be dumping fuel into valve of the engine and possibley onto the turbocharger. I would check there first, and if not i would check the fuel filter housing its self. There is an o-ring at the top that could have possibley detoriated or been pinched. Have you had this housing apart recently? Also another mistake in maintenance of the 7.3Ls is the over tightening of the plastic cap for the filter. Let me know how you make out, and we can diagnois farther.
