If you bring the engine up to top dead center on the #1 cylinder and then mark the distributor housing for #1 sparkplug wire , remove the cap and then turn housing untill rotor points at mark then reinstall cap . This will get you started . then using a timing light check the mark on the damper and the the timing to 8 degrees btd .

If my passenger door is opened and shut while the car is off it sets off my security system and if I do not deactivate it in time it will disable my ignition. Why would the passenger door set it off?...

most vehicles with passive alarms- unless you unlock with key fob go into security mode- the vehicle it cant tell the difference if u unlock with key or with a slim jim so it will activate security system thats why you have to insert key into ignition or use key fob to shut off or reset unit and the system is active on all doors {both or 4dr}

Have an 84 ford pickup 6 cyl we use to plow our driveway no spark replaced dis with new module and new coil still have no spark out of coil or dis thanks mike

Change the ballast resistor, I don't have my manual at the moment, so I can't tell you exactly where it is. Usually connected somewhere in the wire harness between the ignition switch, the coil, and the module.

My 84 Cortina bakkie 3.0 V6 has a terrible missfire.. I changed plugwires, the rotor looks fine, can it be the coil? In the morning when I start the van, it does not take, however, if i run a wire from the...

Your ignition circuit is faulty- it's probably the ignition switch itself that is defective. The misfire is that the distributor cap has a crack in it and the spark is directed to a particular plug wire and the spark has found its way to a non designated plug wire. It wouldn't be the coil, change the rotor and distributor cap be sure to mark your plug wires and reinsert into the proper hole in the distributor cap. Good Luck, Jim

95 ford e150 no power no lights no start

So many directions to go....I would start with making sure you have a fully charged battery and good connections to the battery and starter as well as the starter sloenoid.As i recall there is fusable links that give power to the whole system and they are located on the solenoid this is assuming what you mean by no power no lights no start is when you turn the key it will not turn over at all.
Let me know
