Try squeezing the flexible fuel hose so that just enough fuel gets through to the engine to allow it to run,If you get vehicle to run then its a supply of power to the injectors keeping them spraying large amounts of fuel, pressure relief valve has failed or lost ability to relieve pressure in fuel rail or fuel return line is blocked. Some fuel pumps are capable of supplying excessive pressure but vehicles own relief should be working. Also dirty or unservicable injectors can give you the symptoms you describe.Let me know how you go

Remove the fuel return line at the injector rail, remove fuel filler cap and lightly blow compressed air down the fuel return line Have somebody listen to see if they can hear the fuel bubbling in the tank.If too much air it will blow out the filler pipe so caution is advised if your the one listening at the filler.

Car will not start like its not catching fire , i have a 2008 suzuki xl7

old post. but will answer.
the starter only cranks the engine, that is it's only job.
if it cranks robustly (at crank shaft pulley ,see it) then its ok.
250 RPM is typical cranking speed. RPM
no starts are complex.
for any engine Gas, to start you needs 4 things.
  1. ALL FUSE TO EFI GOOD, TEST THEM. CEL glows key on?
  2. full engine compression and crank vacuum 5" HG or more.?>??
  3. Spark , try a fresh tune up with fresh spark plugs. all 6 sparking.?
  4. Fueling , must be right. not flooding , not starving
if spark and engine are good, all engines(most) will start with test fuel.
This one simple test. proves the engine is ok, and spark is ok.
and the fuel system is dead.
these checks , will let is work the 4 systems. that might fail.
this is the classic basics path.
and works 99.% of the time.

exceptions, are clogged melted cat.
or stuck wide open EGR
or ISC stuck closed, (no starting air.) use 10% throttle to prove that.
or flooding, if flooding use super secret unflood mode (opr guide)
hold the throttle (right foot) pedal to the floor, this cuts fueling
and the flooded engine starts, for full time or runs and floods and stalls again.
This is called basics , in all ASE books in print.

1997 honda crv. wont start

which engine??????????????????
one of those is false. i bet. ever the the 60k mile tune up this decade ? Yes, good, no?, well, what did you expect?
driving honda's top death is just that....see end. below.

my guess is you are doing one test wrong. , (i cant see you, so...)
THE ROPES: (called basics ) order counts big time.

1-good engine? (compression at 150psi or more x4? or x6 if V6.
2-good spark at all cyl. and timing right. check timing.
if timing of spark is way off the cam belt slipped, no service ever done is cause.
3-good fueling, it runs. (if not flooded (is it) test fuel does work here.
in this step.

turns off driving, but how did you do that, if it wont start?????
my guess is the stalls were the preamble to the end death

exceptions, to above. ( 1st CAT ,is rare)
1: CAT melted. (there is a cheap simple test ,ask)
2: ISC stuck closed, (Aka; iAC electric) use 10% throttle to mimic this bad part and car starts easy , this trick is in the operators manual.
3: EGR stuck wide open, see 10% above, trick. or clean it.
4: engine flooded, see opr. guide for WOT cranking
you crank at WOT. wide open throttle, and EFI cuts all fuel, clearing
the flood.
so, do you look at spark tips for BAD COLOR or soaking wet with fuel.
Look at them. (they speak volumes)

old spark plates and winter hate each other..
do the full tune up, filters ,cap rotor, wires and plugs. and magic happes, and if the timing belt is old, BOOM
that means ,skip belt service, a $25 belt can wreck the whole engine.
or at the least just bent valves,
on this engine, my cylinder leak down tool comes out 1st.
(your symptoms)

1998 Honda crv wont start , it started as a hesatation when pulling out, then it started stalling now it wont start at all.I can hear the fuel pump cycle on when you turn the key on ,the plugs have spark...

USA cars, (is it:?) the Check engine light must com one key on.
if not the fuse to ECU is blown. dead ECU, dead EFI,
if the engine will not start , now, then the CEL is stuck on , it can only
go out cranking or running.
are you using a scantool ? just a clue here, we fix cars with a full scan tool there is no other way..... (USA)
fails hot, or cold engine,? or both? ill pretend its dead and cold
1: lost compression, forgot the 60k belt change (cam) and not the belt is snapped and valves in head or bent over (the oldest story on earth)
2: lost spark (all 4 good? or if v6 , all 6?)
3: lost fueling (starting fluid work? test fuel sprayed in to induction?
3a: flooding, soaking wet spark tips, x 4 or x6.

pull oil filler cap, does cam spin cranking, no? byebye engine.

It was missin now wont start

must be 90s week?
no starts, but cranks fully and full crank speed, which is near 300 rpm, called robust cranking but notarts.
its flooded.
(compression not above150PSI) means the timing belt has slipped.
and will never run right again, ever do the 60k tuneup yet.
if not , why not?
flooding.? so many way to flood.
1: spark plug tips x4 all wet with fuel.
use the cracking (wide open throttle like the shows)
this cuts all fuel, (EFI)
2: no spark, check spark x4 and if all 4 are dead, try the coil.
if the coil is dead, no spark there, then the dizzy is toast.
90 cars are a stand alone dizzy, meaning ECU is not doing this.
3: Flooding can be caused by other things.
see em all here.
over 28 ways !
but there are only really 3 ways.
1: bad engine (60k tuneup skipped.)
2: bad spark
3: bad fueling.

it is one of those,
there are 2 exceptions.
1: EGR main stuck open. (this kills fueling to start and low rpm)
2: CAT melted (this kills an engine, it cant pump air. )

What can I check if the car is not starting? It spins over but not crankin. Has new plugs and wires, and a new fuel filter.

The firt thing to do is do not keep cranking it because it will get flooded. If you notice strong smell of gas it don't try to do a spark check on the spark plug. Wait a little and while you are waiting you can check the fuse. Don't rush on the job because you might miss a bad fuse. If you pull them out make sure it is put back where they where. When all the fuse check out ok then do a spark test. Pull out one of the plug and ground it while someone is cranking the car. Be carefull those plugs may have high voltage. Next thing to do is check if it's supplying fuel. You can get a starting fluid and spray some. If it runs for a bit and turn off then you aint getting fuel. Do this several times if it keeps dying then you are 100 percent sure it is not getting fuel. I don't recommend pulling out the fuel line because thats dangerous. If irt wont fire when you spray the starting fluid and you know it has spark. Then the timing is off. Or a major mechanical failure such as broken belt. Last on my menu is the exhaust is clogged up. Before assuming it is the exhaust timing must be confirmed that it is good.

Eengine wont start has gas and spark?

Does it sound like its spinning or turning faster than normal? If so could just be flooded. Try cranking engine with excellerator 3/4 way down at 10 sec intervals with 2 min brake in between. These cars have always seemed to flood easy. And the air intake system is so enclosed it cant really dry out easy. I try that 3-4 times if it does seem like its trying to start or getting better than Id say tow to mechanic. Possible coil problems too? But seen alot of them flood out.
