Water pump was replaced 2 months ago, when they replaced water pump they flushed and replaced thermostats, which I found out last week that they fitted them the wrong way around so I fitted them the correct way and replaced coolant and coolant bottle cap. This is a pressure system and once it reaches that correct pressure it will drive all day and not go over 92 degrees. Hoses are under 1 yr old as is radiator as well

Sounds almost normal..albeit a lazy thermostat likely....when did you last flush and fill the radiator and replace the thermostat? clutch and associated belts and hoses should be inspected at this time also

Signs of thermostat going out

there are two things that can go wrong with a thermostat.

1. the thermostat can stick closed. In this case the vehicle temp will continue to rise and eventually overheat.

2. The thermostat can stick open. In this case the engine temp will never reach full operating temperature which should be around the 200 - 220 degree mark. If you live in an area with colder climates you may also notice a lack of sufficient heat from the vents as the temps start dropping.

What symptoms are you having?

Won't start when cold

Sounds like ice in fuel line. Add drygas to remove water. Try not to store vehicle with gas tank empty.

Overheating of 98 Suburban 6.5 Diesel K2500

hey mate.

As we don't have major issues with engines running too cold in Au, you can do away with the thermostat. I don't remove them totally, you should always use a restricter plate(a thermostat with the valve part removed will do it) otherwise the water can circulate too fast and you actually lessen the cooling systems effectiveness. It is probable that the thermostat is faulty by the way it is behaving.

When you say the wrong way round, which side was the spring facing, the engine, or the radiator.
