Question about 1993 Ford Escort 4 Door
The battery light on the dash in my 1993 Ford escort wagon came on about two weeks ago, and hasn't gone off since. If the car is on its on. The car starts fine and runs fine. I took the battery terminals off and cleaned them real well and put them back. The light is still on. There doesn't seem to be a problem other then the heat in the car won't get hot, even though the temp gauge stays in the normal or cold range and the thermastat has been replaced. I don't know if the two could be related or not.
Not related as one is water system and other is electrical,As far as the heater goes make sure the heater core is not blocked by removing hoses from firewall and flush the heater core with a garden hose to make sure its flowing freely. Also check that the heater tap is working, the tap is in the engine bay and turns the water flow on and off when controls on the dash activate them.Check that the cable hasnt slipped on the retainer clip or come off the back of the heater controls. As to the alternator light, check that the single wire that pushes into the back of the alternator is intact, not fallen out and undamaged along its entire lenght. Its not a wire thats bolted but the wire with a round terminal end.Check all electrical connections Good luck
