Radio speaker problem on a 2003 trailblazer

My front drivers side speaker volume is so low you can hardly hear that it is even working. Once in awhile (not often) it will suddenly get loud but doesn't stay loud for long. Is there any way to check the wire connections myself or do I need to take it in?

Do you still have the factory unit installed or would this be an after market unit?

  • Anonymous Apr 22, 2012

    Original factory installed.

If it is not the factory radio it has been installed by someone who did not use proper connectors. Also there could be 13-15 wires back there just waiting to short out and burn up your radio. I would run it to a radio shop they will not charge very much try car toys.Remember to rate my solution this is how i earn my achievements also testimonial Thanks much in advance.

SOURCE: Radio will not shut off once key is removed...

radios have two feeds one from the ignition and one permanent live. if this is the case then you will find they have not fitted in correct order or even in some cases not at all on the ignition as it does not realy need it. you will also find if the stereo is brand new that all the cables will be clearly marked with a tag and you will have to disconnect the cable for the connection to the car warnign system.

SOURCE: rear speakers stopped working

my speakers went out front and rear i was told by an audio tech. that the systems that chevrolet put in them each speaker has its own amp to bust the sound the only way to fix it is to replace them.
if you have a warranty chevrolet will replace them otherwise find a junk yard or new system. i ordered a set of used speakers off ebay havent installed yet.

SOURCE: 2004 Chevy Trailblazer radio and CD player works, but no sound

if you have installed a new cd player in there then the propblem could be that your speaker wires and either touching each other or grounding them selfs out.. pull of the cd player and check to make sure all the speaker wires are covered properly and no bare wires are exposed.. if you still have a factory cd player in it then you will probably need to take it to a dealership to have it checked out..

Sound out of only 1 speaker in a 2003 trailblazer with aftermarket radio what could be the problem

Check speaker, sub another speaker to check wiring or use analog volt meter, if no action on meter or sub doesn't work either then check wiring between door and chassis. Some wires may break inside due to continuous door use, most common on drivers door. You can try a light pull on the two wires here after sliding boot to one side, easier said than done. Lastly radio output transistor is bad, I lost one at a time until radio had no sound.

Why does radio volume sometimes have low volume even when turned up

Could be that the potentiometer is not tracking properly. If that is not it, then it is the chip that controls the volume at fault.

2007 cierra ,my radio cones on but not putting power to speakers except to 1 front speaker and it has almost no sound ,up full and very screechy . do I need a new radio ?

Sounds like a wire is shorting out, probably in behind the stereo, but more likely in the back where the speakers connect. Check for something shorting out or a wire grounding out near the speaker.
You can trace back from there.
Other than that probably is the stereo.

My front speakers for my onstar, backup warning and when my key is in the ignition and the door opens alarm is not working proerly. The sound is very low even though I have turned the volume all the way...

Hi
It sounds like it would more than likely be a short from some where within the wires probably a speaker wire try turning the radio of then on whilst the ignition is on. Then turn the radio back up again.

My radio speakers will not work except on the drivers font left hand side. I do have some sound on the drivers right side but you can just hear it

Check the weak speaker for water damage--replace if so. Repair the source of the water leak. Tap the speaker back side with a knuckle--if good, it will make a booming sound. If damaged, it won't make any sound except for your knuckle. Hope this helps!

2003 Yukon Denali, all radio functions work...just

The built in power amplifier has gone bad and needs to be replaced. You can have the radio repaired, which is cheaper then replacing it. It's common for the OEM radio on the GM to go bad as they draw high current and the heat causes the problem. Good luck and keep me posted.
